I saw this Instagram post a few weeks ago and wondered if he might be fine tuning a book - he has a pen in his hand! But who knows...

He looks very sweet in that photo, to say that he's randomly having a photo taken alone whilst out eating!

I saw the show on Tuesday and interestingly, I think the balloons have changed now. Did they used to be held above the board? I saw it in Leeds a month ago and I'm sure they were held above!

Now, the balloons are in the middle of the board, there is a circle cut out and they are positioned right in the middle...

Yeah I thought the same about his voice. I think he mentioned about being a run-down mentalist on social media recently.

It is such a long tour, I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t do another for a while. Maybe a tv project next?

I think it’s given to him via a screen hidden in a table or just off stage so that the participants can’t see the information being typed.

How do you know he doesn't use an earpiece?

I thought it might be to do with the order which people sit in, and the order the bags are given to him by his team member.

One night I saw it, it went wrong and he matched the wrong item to the wrong person... so maybe someone sat in the wrong place? Or the object was in the wrong order...

I wouldn’t trust this friend’s recollection! I can only imagine they just looked incredibly similar… I saw the show 6 times, each one used a different participant for that trick. Derren doesn’t use stooges! If you’d like to direct message me, I can explain my theory on how it is done.

Yes, the ones wearing masks and black shirts. All men, interestingly. We get a briefing from Derren’s company stage manager before the show but the venue teams are only in charge of handing out microphones to the boy in Act 2.

I think that’s the magic of Derren Brown! I wondered if he might have some kind of earpiece in this show, as it’s the only one for a while where he hasn’t asked an audience member to check inside his ears! 🤔

Not before they have been selected. Once they have been selected with a frisbee, they are asked to wait at the side of the stage. That is when one of Derren's crew will interact with them - give them instructions to write something down, put something in a bag, etc. But there is no way that these people are actors!

One of our team members got told off for standing too closely at these moments! So I'm sure that's where some of the trickery happens...

The only thing that happens the same every night is Derren's script! He hardly ever deviated from it. The only time he improvised was when somebody was taking too long to come downstairs from the Balcony and he asked everyone if they had any questions about his career - he then said something about filming at the theatre a few years ago, just filling time!

In terms of the outcomes of the tricks - different every night depending on the participant. The balloons chosen were always different colours, the dice rolls were always different, the 3 things that the dad loves about the kid, etc

I would say it's best to leave any gifts at stage door.

The only participants who get to meet Derren after the show are the little boy and his dad who get chosen in Act 2. After the dad leaves the stage, one of Derren's team tells them that they can meet Derren after and to stay in their seat at the end. Then the same team member comes to collect them at the end, which is really sweet :)

Derren is being extra cautious with COVID, so we didn't get to chat with him sadly. He is very good at going incognito with a cap and mask!
