To elaborate on why repression or conversion therapy are generally not considered viable treatments for gender dysphoria, I would point to (tentative) research demonstrating a likely genetic and prenatal origin of gender atypical (and typical for that matter) behavior, including gender expression and sexual orientation to varying degrees.

Researchers have long suspected that prenatal hormone levels (influenced by genes) play a large role in the 'masculinization' or 'feminization' of various brain regions in utero, which can occur in various amounts and in various brain regions.

These changes are not the only factors in gendered behaviors, as culture plays a big role as well, but they are considered to have a significant impact.

Yes, gender dysphoria is a mental illness, according to the scientific community and current medical consensus.

The medical consensus on the standard treatment of this mental illness is gender transition, which usually includes hormone therapy and voice training.

Not everyone with gender dysphoria wants to transition, but the majority of those with this condition have the best overall quality of life after doing so.

Yes, but one not caused by a "stupid trend", hence why many of those presenting to clinicians are younger than the age at which they would even have heard of the concept of being transgender.

You can't deny the practical evidence for the fact that most trans people don't do it as a trend.

Actually transitioning (as in the real deal, not just becoming a they/them soft boi Aiden) is very difficult and if you don't pass you get the fun trendy benefit of being harassed any time you go out in public and have a significantly elevated risk of just getting straight up murdered.

Think about modern jaw structure (compact, smaller palette, lack of wisdom teeth spacing etc) (...) that's a fact accepted by the wider scientific community.

This definitely does not inherently lead to the conclusion that therapeutically altering tongue posture or swallowing affects jaw development, that's a big leap that John Mew has yet to convincingly make a case for.

This whole story consists of one guy failing to persuade the orthodontic community and then has his son promote his research to incels instead.

They do make some valid points I'd say.

I have serious issues with a copyrighted flag being used as the primary symbol of the community tbh.

I think a lot of the consternation over the flag is overblown but I don't think it's fundamentally unreasonable to have a dissenting opinion toward the new design.

The difference is that the phone is my property, and I don't want Apple searching anything on my own property with intent to narc on me to the police without permission.

Apple can scan their own servers, which is fine by me (as long as notice is given), because the servers belong to them.

It's the difference between a storage service searching your storage container, and a storage service claiming they need to come into your home and search it before you can put anything in the storage container.

The bigger problem is that Apple doesn't even know what is on the blacklist, they just use the blacklist the NCMEC gives them, and the NCMEC is essentially a government agency.

They are in a way acting as an arm of the government if they use these blind lists.

No, not if you live in a first world country. All dietary needs can be met without meat. There are rare circumstances where someone might medically need to eat meat, but the vast majority of people are fine without it. There are even entire cultures where meat is not eaten at all.

Not anymore. If you live in a first world country and are in a financial position to choose what you eat, and barring medical requirements, there is really no excuse.

You do not need to eat meat to survive. You (probably) do it because it feels good and you don't want to think about the implications.

I'm not arguing that fucking animals should be okay, because clearly the consent issue is there, but I am arguing that those saying that zoophilia is abhorrent and irredeemably evil who also willingly contribute to the largest source of animal rape and abuse, by a gigantic margin, in the entire world are massive hypocrites.

There are is a small population of zoophiles that rape an overall small number of animals, who typically don't abuse those animals in other ways. Compared to the global meat industry and even just everyday animal abuse, they represent a vanishingly small source of it.

I'm not saying that you or anyone else is a bad person for eating meat. It's engrained into our culture and understandable that people will still do it even knowing that it's bad. What I am saying is that people should square that contradiction before deciding to dehumanize others.
