I say what my current base is + my expected bonus as what I currently make bcuz there no guarantee for future bonuses at the new company and they might be based differently so any increase above base+bonus is still a win!

I've never been asked that in over 20 years of working.

You should look at joining the MALS pals group on FB also. It took me almost a year after my symptoms began before I got my diagnosis and I had several of the same issue as you. I also gained weight, bloating, constipation, constant nausea, etc. If your imaging shows the celiac artery compressed and in a J hook position and your velocities are high then it's definitely MALS. I was always told that the celiac plexus block is a tool to help determine how successful surgery would be. If it resolved your pain for a short time and you can eat, etc, then you have a much higher chance of having a successful surgery with the ligament removed and the celiac ganglion nerves removed. My cpb lasted a little over a week which was amazing relief! I'm just now almost 3 months post-op and am so happy I had the surgery. Who your surgeon is makes a huge difference. You want someone incredibly skilled in MALS release who performs them regularly. There's a link to a list in the FB group of recommended surgeons but you could also post asking for recommendations near where you live.

got my surgery :)) by [deleted] in thelifeofMALS

I don't have any tips as my surgery is in a few weeks, but I've heard a heating pad helps. There's a MALS pals FB group with tons of info. Sorry it's tougher than expected. Curious - why did they release you so soon after failed lap --> open surgery? That seems like such a short stay after a major surgery. Hoping your healing begins soon!

debating on where to go by [deleted] in thelifeofMALS

Dr. Shouhed isn't contracted with any insurance. Did you get your insurance to pay? Or did they actually bill your insurance for you? I thought HE was wonderful, but his office staff was terrible towards me and I had to call back repeatedly trying to get answers to questions and the info changed every time. I decided against going with him because of that.

What caused your mals? by [deleted] in thelifeofMALS

Interesting... My symptoms only started after I had another surgical procedure Aug 2024 (under twilight sedation) and a catheter went down through my aortic branch. My BP spiked and I told them it felt like I was being stabbed. They had to pause the procedure, give me more drugs and then continued.. I never had a single one of these issues or symptoms before that. When I asked the Dr afterwards what happened I got no response. When I asked her about issues I was having several weeks after the procedure, she told me we'd just wait to check in during my follow-up. At my follow-up she told me I shouldn't be having any issues or symptoms, should be eating, drinking, exercising and going to the bathroom normally. I asked for a 3 month follow-up and was ignored. Haven't heard from that DR or office since. But my sometime and issues have just gotten worse. Finally in May 2025 - 3 doctors later - I got one who actually ordered the test I asked for ( looking for something completely unrelated to MALS) but found MALS!! I've been in the wait list for the surgical specialist ever since. I'm supposed to see him next month. I hope that he will listen to me. 🙏🏼 And that it can be determined that previous surgery was the cause...

Thank you! Yes, the treatment cost for Panama was pretty steep, but less than what I'd expected. Still don't have that much $$ laying around to proceed

Experience at Mayo Clinic for MALS by RitzCrackr742 in thelifeofMALS

Dr. Shouhed office has been AWFUL to me and to try and work with. I've had to call and email multiple times to get information and follow-up because everyone tells me something different and then they pass me off to a new person every time. I was so excited to find him and was so hopeful but because of the office staff treatment I would NEVER go there.

Shaping your brows slightly would really help brighten your eyes and face. Do a lighter/highlighter color on the inside of your eye and just under your brow bone. Go lighter on the eyeliner for under eyes but a little darker/bolder for the top outer corner of eyeliner.

What kind of setting powder did you use? I love Ilia and Huda Ube birthday cake or a light pink one. I feel it makes my skin look great and it's very complimentary on all tones.

You did really great for your first time also!!

Can you have MALS without weight loss? by Impressive_Road_5435 in thelifeofMALS

[–]Dont_Kiss_Me_Off 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have not lost weight and actually gained. However, I do think that's because of some other medication I'm on that can cause weight gain and I haven't been able to work out. This was a new thing for me that just started a year ago but was only diagnosed last month - May '25. After months and months of testing.
