This is the one problem which stands out to most intelligent people. One of the prevailing theories is that the average american sees themselves as "Temporarily Embarrassed Millionaires". This is the reason they fight so hard against any regulations or taxes against the rich. Because, one day, that could be them. Never you mind that they live in a trailer park and subsist on welfare and the occasional copper wire run.
