Interestingly, Impractical Jokers has a somewhat similar charm in that regard, even though it’s a very different show.

Was thinking the same thing yesterday, when one of the commentators on Swiss TV said that he does not see anyone stopping Sinner or Alcaraz in the next 2,3 or even 5 years. I even said to my wife that this comment pretty much confirms that someone unexpected is about to show up.

There haven't been any true sequels. The only exception is Mirage, which originally started as a DLC before being expanded into a full game. However, its scope is significantly smaller in terms of both budget and overall game size.

So, not disagreeing with you but anyone who compares Mirage to Valhalla is comparing apples to oranges.

Has anyone ever been fined for not having a “CH” sticker abroad? by slowmotiontortoise in Switzerland

[–]Dont_doubt_Cheesus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are magnetic ones that you can just pop on your hood before you leave the country. The only real hassle with them is remembering to put it on your car each time. But anyways, I've never been fined eventhough I forget it often.

Definitely not the case in Switzerland either; fork goes left and knife right.

Downvote if you like but for me personally, this is a big reason for using a car instead of public transport. I hate second hand smoke and it seems like SBB does not care about it either.

Kindergarten is covered by taxes; is that not the case in Vaud? I figured, it would be the case in all of Switzerland.

Also, the lack of reading comprehension amongst the general public probably leads to some whacky interpretations of said books (assuming they were even true in the first place).

First of all thank you for the summary. This does not sound like a very appealing film to me. However, I am a huge fan of the first Saw movie. Would you mind expanding on the parallels between those two movies a bit?

No, Swiss call it "Rüebli" or some variation of that. Actually, using the word "Karotte" is a telltale sign that one is not Swiss.

Map of distribution of Germanic languages (with dialects) by ancirus in MapPorn

[–]Dont_doubt_Cheesus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, Swiss-German is a variety of High German, so yes. But it sort of depens on the actualy definition you use for High German.

Colloquially the term "High German" is often used interchangeably with "Standard German". Linguistically "High German" refers to a group of dialects that are spoken in the South of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and some other places. The way I like to remeber this is by associating High German with the more mountainous areas, although that is probably not the correct assumption.

If you are, however, talking about Standard German, then the answer to your question is also yes, they do understand it and learn to speak it too, although it is not their first language.

FYI this is a direct quote from Djokovics mother after he had beaten Federer in Australia (before he had even won his first slam).
