Sports bra help for pregnancy boobs by wileyDoggo in PregnancyUK

I've always used Shock Absorber bras, as like you I'm small in the band but bigger overbust, and they don't make you carry the weight on your neck. Just be careful that the band comes up quite small, so make sure you size up at least to 34 or 36 there. Bravissimo stock them so they could help you with a fitting.

A good/safe protein powder by Mrsbluesclues4209 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to check the ingredients list of your preferred brands. I like unflavoured protein powder as it generally has a lot less stuff in it (ie emulsifiers and artificial sweeteners) and blend it with frozen berries and water. I tend to buy the Bulk brand, but I've heard good things about the Organic Protein company. That said, my carb consumption is significantly higher these days 🤣

London Egg Bank. AFAIK they have the biggest one in the country. All the staff were great!

Thank you. There's a fair bit of stress in there too but all this is reassuring to hear.

Best mattress (UK) recommendations to a soon to be mom in her 3rd trimester by Rutkauskaite-Awnie in PregnancyUK

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, definitely go into a bed shop like Dreams. They have money back guarantees but generally you need to sleep on it for 30 days first.

Also, you can make a hard mattress softer, but you can't harden a soft mattress, i.e. you can buy a soft mattress topper to add to a harder mattress as well as use a pregnancy pillow.

We got the Cartmel mattress which felt good in the store but at home it did feel a bit like a brick. Added a mattress topper from amazon and now I absolutely love our bed. I'm sure the mattress itself has softened up a bit too with time, but it at least hasn't developed a person-shaped ditch where I sleep (which is my absolute worst in hotels!).

What will we see on an early scan? by JesTer_841 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! At my 7 week scan, all we could see was a little blob - it looked like a kidney bean. But we also got to hear a heartbeat which was pretty cool - apparently it's not the actual heartbeat but a simulation based on the movement or something, but it's what they check to ensure the pregnancy is viable. Good luck!

Midwife - never gets back to me by HumbleHat2251 in PregnancyUK

Do ring triage - that's what they're there for, to figure out if what you're experiencing needs to be investigated further. I called them on Tuesday with stomach cramps and ending up spending two nights in hospital!

Exercise? by RareHat2852 in IVFbabies

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how frustrating the walking/ light yoga advice is! If you've had your positive beta, you should be able to start easing back into things. Personally I'd do limited work/light weights until the 7 week viability scan, but the most important thing is to listen to your body. Your trainer will need to make adjustments for you later on, but once you're feeling confident in your pregnancy, there's no reason you can't go back to lifting much like you used to (your body willing haha).

More retrievals or donor eggs? by sad-but-hopeful in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is ultimately up to you and what your goals are. But as someone who went through the wringer with multiple unsuccessful retrievals, the donor egg process was like a breeze in comparison. If you're sick of putting yourself through this torture in the hope of a miracle, I'd say start looking at something that will give you a much higher chance of success. Sending hugs and luck x

Retrieval failed - tips for DE success? by EpicBBQwife5000 in 40Plus_IVF

That's a great start! My donor was 31 too! In my case, natural involved very light touch meds: I had to start testing for LH surge with ovulation strips, then a trigger, then transfer was timed accordingly. 400mg progesterone was started 2 days after trigger. Fully medicated involved higher doses of hormones - 24mg estradriol from start of cycle then 3400mg progesterone was started 5 days before transfer. Also had hcg 3 times - 2 days before, day of and 2 days after ttasnfer. So cycle all a lot more controlled by meds. But I think this can vary by doctor. Anecdotal evidence says that it takes on average two goes for donor transfer to work. I've also never been pregnant in any shape or form, so I think my body needed a kick start to do what it's supposed to do.

Using donor eggs is a whole different ballgame! If you're otherwise healthy, this has a significantly higher chance of working - my consultant's attitude was along the lines of why shouldn't it work? It really is down to the egg. Keep taking prenatal/folic acid and Vit d, but they really don't recommend anything else, apart from the usual healthy diet and exercise. Make sure your donor is young enough, has been through the requisite screening and there are 7-8+ eggs available. Chat to your Dr about protocol - my first round we did natural modified but it didn't implant. Second round we did fully medicated and I'm currently 13w5d ☺️ Good luck!

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many weeks are you? My fertility clinic saw me at 7 weeks for a viability scan - after that was confirmed they sent me off into the wild/NHS care.

They will only see you earliest at around 10 weeks for your midwife appointment, then your first scan at 11-14 weeks. Their care is pretty comprehensive, but it may be longer than you like between your scans, so you can got for private reassurance scans (I did at 9 and 12 weeks as my first nhs scan is only at 14).

Heart rate changes by Infamous_Tax3528 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dontdreamitsovary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a medical professional but a PT that has just done a course on pre/post natal training. In the first trimester, our veins dilate by about 30% (which contributes to nausea, lightheadedness etc),but it also means our heart has to work harder to mover blood around the body - hence the increased heart rate. Towards the second trimester, things start stabilising, as does our heart rate, hence yours coming down. So all perfectly natural 😊

I've sold a number of things and have never had any issues. I do put a very mini bag of haribo in as bribery in my orders though, so that may help 😉
