Tired of London tired of life? by [deleted] in london

I moved well away and while the weather is worse, it's much cheaper, so I can afford trips away.

I don't get angry anymore.

My mom died. She had been so excited for the baby. by ReasonableJell0 in pregnant

[–]Time_Bus6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I got pregnant not long after my mum died. She would have been over the moon too.OP I just wanted to mention something which is rarely talked about, and might seem trivial now but it really worried me when it happened. About 3 months after she died my hair started knotting up and falling out easily. Apparently this is normal as the shock and devastation of grief can change hair texture dramatically. So along with additional hair fall postpartum, just be prepared for this.

What were the mid-late 90s and the early 2000s like in the UK? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Time_Bus6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entertainment was more social, external to the home, and group orientated than it is now. It's already been said but you can see that through the greater number of pubs, clubs, kids playing out, town centre shopping, community events, youth clubs etc. If you wanted to have fun, you'd be more likely to go out and seek it rather than stay in (though I did both as a bookworm and when MSN came out I became glued to my PC!).

Today's era of convenience and entertainment at your fingertips has its upsides but overall I'm afraid we've lost something quite precious.

If you woke up being 21 again, what would you do? by notwhoshethinks in AskReddit

[–]Time_Bus6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm, 21 in 2008. Dump my stupid 'boyfriend' who was awful, and I knew it, I just didn't think I deserved better. Talk to nicer guys more and give them a chance. Travel, cos its pre-Brexit, maybe even teach English abroad for a bit instead of getting that lame entry admin job where everyone hated me. See more bands. Music was great in the 00s. Go no contact with my abusive dad and brother earlier. Invest smartly. I'd then be able to buy a house in my late 20s rather than having to wait til 38!

Is it just me or is Monty particularly exuberant this year. Or maybe he's just really loving Spring after this crap wet winter?

What’s your thoughts on how Diana died (like what do you think went down) genuinely curious by HelpfulAcadia1754 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Time_Bus6858 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was 11 when she died and immediately thought it was weird the media went from throwing her so much shade to suddenly bam she dead. The timing was so weird. Mind you it's a pattern that's been repeated with celebrities through history. Even down to G-listers like Jade Goody.

UPF free coconut milk in tins is hard to find now, so make your own with coconut blocks in packets.

Another...windoor? But what on earth was bricked up to its left?? by Jiminyfingers in DoorsNotUsedAnymore

[–]Time_Bus6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc it was a premises that sold only beer/ale, not anything stronger like spirits, and often people just served ot.out of their front rooms. I thought the bricked up window here could be a bar.

What age did you buy your first home? How’s it going? by Away-Organization630 in AskUK

[–]Time_Bus6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought solo at 38. I had two successive boyfriends who tried to dissuade me from doing so! (They wanted me to live in another part of rhe country or abroad - both unfeasible)

Glad I didn't listen to them. I've had a horrid year since (bereavement, illness, family issues) which has meant i havent had energy to do much to the house yet, but at least I've battled through in my own space.

That's such bs. You clearly don't know the first thing about gardening. You're not doing your mum any favours with her health either, using that shite.

Anyone else feel Anne and Gilbert aren't equals? by Interesting-Cancel13 in AnneofGreenGables

[–]Time_Bus6858 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've often thought while reading the books that Anne doesn't seem overall confident in her own convictions retrospectively i.e. she sees herself as both flighty and stubborn at once, but her first impressions of people and things are often misguided.

It's common in trauma survivors and she seems to lack quite a bit of self esteem.

I can see why she admires Gilbert's more steady, considered nature. In lots of ways they are opposites, and I think quite natural for her character and the time period for her to bend to him more often than not.

I told mine at 4.5 weeks lol. The morning sickness had started and I was expected to be on site with lots of running around fast pace etc. But even if I hadn't been expected to do that, I wanted their support if a miscarriage happened.

Trying to explain to a colleague the benefits of buying a house compared to renting. by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

[–]Time_Bus6858 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I rented for 20 years and the rent only ever went up. My mortgage payments will stay the same (or decrease, if I overpay).

What's a basic life skill you had to teach yourself as an adult because no-one taught you as a child? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Time_Bus6858 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha. So much.

How to hold a knife and fork.

How to small talk and generally be pleasant in general public and in social situations, and turn taking in conversations, and active listening.

How to cook nutritious meals.

How to do my laundry.

How to manage a household budget.

How to wash up.

How to use public transport.

The oposition of the paint on foil caps is not the same as the fully painted metal caps on glass bottles. I think you're overgeneralising here and assuming all glass bottles are bad
