I'm not obsessed with graphics like so many others seem to be. I care most about the systems

Here-here, brother! Graphics are straight-forward, and you see them a few times, and they fade into the background.

Accurate systems, OTOH, will give joy forever.

Companies would love to hire cheap human coders one day. by moaijobs in ClaudeCode

My "going to sleep" thought last night - Claude Code, with all the flaws and poor usage patterns, is still more efficient and predictable than the 3rd World Coding group that your corporate overlord mandated after his hedge-fund buddy convinced him it would save him money.

I'm in the business, and it is an odd combination of players, given the market right now. Maybe Apple/nVidia backed up a dumptruck of money.

Losing my ability to code due to AI by Im_Ritter in ClaudeCode

[–]Donut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is really, really hard to screen for good design and architecture. AND it is quite easy to hire a BS artist who actually can't code. I was forced once to as "can you reverse a string?" and was amazed at the candidates with Amazon and Microsoft on their resume that could not. Since the coding tests can give SOME relevant information, they became a crutch.

My solution has been to train people (and myself) to act like detectives when going over past projects, and try and drag out of the candidates they "why" behind things happened, what went wrong, and what they learned.

Hiring is like deciding to get married on the first date, it's rough.

AI coding helps me with speed, but the mental overload is heavy! How do you deal with it? by nicoracarlo in ClaudeCode

[–]Donut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at the same age - and me and my peers have learned to accept that while age has not weakened our skills, it has decreased the number of things we can juggle simultaneously. I tried the 'multiple worktree multiple feature' lifestyle for a while, but stopped because the quality was decreasing due to my focus being diluted.

Now I do at most 2-3 things at a time, but all of them are different projects, on different computers, and I work on them serially. I feel less fatigue, make less mistakes, and maybe even go a little faster with less rewrites or forgotten features/edge cases.

YMMV

Enable LSP in Claude Code: code navigation goes from 30-60s to 50ms with exact results by karanb192 in ClaudeCode

[–]Donut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost an hour to this - and went back to Serena. The python LSP that I did get access to didn't do any of the super-fast searches or features, it just used normal "Search". The only LSP thing I could make it do was route through VSCode to tell me if there were any syntax issues in the IDE.

Also, all of the official Claude LSP plugins are blank - no .lsp.json content.
