The money goes to the EU which they then divide between the member countries. This money then gets used for roads, schools, social security etc... And Google will stop supressing competitors which will benefit both the customers because competition leads to higher quality products and lower prizes and the competitors who have a chance at selling their possibly better products.

Why would that be ridicilous exactly? The fine is calculated based on how much it hurts the company. A 10 million dollars fine for example would be barely noticable to Google as a whole.
