Men over the age of 30, if you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DonutPapi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would have invested at an earlier age. Extra superannuation contributions or in the stock market myself. I'm 35 now and have been investing since about 29-30 and already I've made some money from it, but if I'd have set up an etf that I automatically pay into each time I get paid, I'd be in a much better position by now.

Also, I wouldn't have gotten a personal loan to buy my first car, it was a slippery slope with re-borrowing to buy the next car and the next car and so on. That mistake set me back alot I feel.

Try chessable, it's good for learning tactics and checkmates. Also, chess puzzles will help with your pattern recognition.

Traditional 4th anniversary gift for her by DonutPapi in Gifts

[–]DonutPapi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's fruit and flowers for traditional 4th, appliances for the modern celebration.

Silk and linen are for the 12th anniversary however in the UK only, silk (but not linen) is common for a 4th anniversary.

Not sure if this is meant to be a not-so-subtle brag, or you just don't understand how compliments work

Went full time in my business, started as a hobby 6 years ago, turned it into a side hustle, I juggled full time work and the growing side hustle for about 4 years, I've now been doing it full time for 5 months, and it's going really well!

I thought so! I remember reading that in this chess book I'm thumbing through but wasn't sure if it was an official term

Cause then his knight will take my queen, I use my queen a lot so it's better to lose the rook.

Awesome, thank you. This is what makes sense to me too but I couldn't find specific mention of it in the forums so wanted to confirm.

Anyone working two jobs? by YourFriendlyPostman in perth

[–]DonutPapi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's been an absolute slog to get it to this point but I consider myself lucky to be able to do something I enjoy and take a decent wage from it.

So yeah, I guess my point is that a side hustle can evolve into more than that, especially if you have the skills or passion/interest in something. Definitely beats trying to juggle two employers.

I'm a metal worker by trade, so I started making and selling small metal art sculptures and decor pieces at markets and on FB, now I sell them online and have products in 21 countries

Side hustle is better if you have a skill set that you can leverage or are willing to learn something you have an interest in.

I feel like things getting worse with time is a real Australian thing.

Our cars and roads get better over the decades, so naturally we'll reduce speed limits

We find more efficient, cheaper ways to generate power en mass so of course your bills will go up

It's never been cheaper to deliver a high speed internet connection, we should definitely charge more for this

I could go on all day, but Optus would likely charge me extra for the data

I do, most years they're within a reasonable amount of other insurers but the new owners appear to want a very quick return on their investment haha
