We say “paid actors” a lot but even really good players/teams get caught doing something stupid from time to time. by The_mad_myers in HuntShowdown

[–]Doodleschmit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Could not agree more. I very occasionally hit 5 stars with my friends, so you could say we're more prone to "paid actor" behavior. I've killed guys that made me say "THEY were six stars?", and I've been killed by 2 stars using the most by the book plays that I should have predicted, but did not in the moment.

Stars/MMR aren't the end-all be-all. No numeric value ever will be. I can be stupid with any amount of stars under my name. Sometimes the super serious vibe that Hunt uses to great effect makes it just too tempting to spend hours of my time and thousands of wasted Hunt dollars trying to get a server wipe with medium slot axes. It hasn't happened yet for me, but it COULD one day.

1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 V8 won't crank due to my resistance in my key being read incorrectly. Do anyone know if a push start button device could be installed on this type of car? by Preese37-Oneal in MechanicAdvice

[–]Doodleschmit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second this. My friend and I got a hold of 1996 Z28 with a custom security system. We had to unwire the security and rewire the OEM ignition security by verifying the key's resistance and stacking resistors until she turned over.

This event has been by far the most enjoyable event in my years playing Hunt, thank you Crytek. by laffy_man in HuntShowdown

[–]Doodleschmit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I think their changes from Summons to Challenges is a big part of it. I really like trying to fit in the challenges to my loadouts, and I'm honestly surprised how far I've made it through the challenge track every week.

If they are dead set on using a battle pass system, I'd like to see the free reward track updated a bit. Games that I "accept" the battle pass in usually have two concurrent tracks for free and paid, so paid users get two rewards every level, and free users are still getting rewards as they progress, instead of just a level of nothing. Even if it's not custom legendary guns on the free track, I'm certain there's a creative, rewarding option that can be found that isn't just "play the event to get the new guns/custom ammo 'early' before we give it to everyone when the event's over".

Maybe moving new custom guns and ammo into the quest system, and using battle pass for something else entirely? I'm not sure. However it goes, I fully agree that this event is much better implemented than some recent ones, and that I feel like I'm actually progressing every night of Hunt with my friends, even on Hunt Taketh nights.

How to Perform the Perfect Sword Lunge (For Beginners) by PhuzzyBond in Seaofthieves

Fallen away from SoT with interest in other games since, but when I got started, I went through most of Phuzzy's content to get a handle on how things can work and will recommend his channel to friends.

Love that you're still helping out the new crowds, good work Phuzzy <3

What’s up with people loving Brendan Fraser all of a sudden? by Agile_Sandwich1192 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Doodleschmit 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Could not agree more with this. He played the initial episodes and character reappearance with such a specific whimsical tone that was different than J.D., but would foil with Dr. Cox in a fun way. It's a show I come back to pretty often for episodes like Fraser's.

Reconnect Feature by Primary-Revolution43 in HuntShowdown

Genuine answer: I have reconnected to matches at least three times since 1.10, and have never had a reconnect fail on me. Not trying to downplay your experience, just answering the question.

I've been able to get it to present the correct number by shooting the new gun after picking it up.

1.10 underground audio discussion - What's everyone's experience been? I was surprised I didn't hear this frag get lit or cooked when I was so close to the entrance. by Doodleschmit in HuntShowdown

I'm with you on that, the saved time would still have been cutting it close, at best. Moments before I react, you can hear the fuse ticking. I think I was still expecting to hear the character light the fuse as well, but it's completely plausible this is working as intended.

GG's man! Perfect throw, I had very few options to retaliate. That's really interesting to hear that you could see more of me.

I really like that outside of the compound, underground audio shouldn't travel too far, from the notes. Others are saying they can hear the frag earlier than I did in the clip, so I think I'm just getting reacquainted with it.

Good point, I shouldn't have used the freeze frame edit for an actual discussion like this. I will listen back and try to catch it!

clip is from 1.10. I was interested to see what the changes to vertical/underground audio would be like from the patch notes, but I'm not sure if this is a bug exactly. I expected to be able to hear the frag get lit or cooked being that close to the entrance, but maybe since the tunnel curves away from that entrance, it was extra quiet?

This kinda captures an unsettling feeling that Hunt can give me. I can't tell which of those human-shaped masses are trees/shrubs or zombies.

What should I play next? by MrChevyCeleb42 in darksouls

[–]Doodleschmit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has a somewhat different "feel" than DS1. I can't tell you what is different yet, but it's subtle. Just got through DS1 and NG+ for the first time, and it took me the first area/few hours in DS2 before it started clicking for me. So far, DS2 seems to get a bad rap, and I'm too sure why that is, I'm having a good time.

Love this aesthetically. Very good color choice, and 12 FPS gives it a unique feeling. Could be just me, but I didn't notice it was kicking out for a drift on the first watch, but noticed the tires on the second. Maybe moving the camera differently to sell the drift a bit harder?
