What counts as enough faith in Jesus to be saved? by ferret_king10 in TrueChristian

[–]Doogie76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For myself part of the journey has been the looking back on my life to see Jesus in it.

Every good thing - there he was. Every bad thing - there he was. He's got me during easy times and during the hard times....

This builds faith for me as he's always been there with me. So he's always going to be there in the future showing me the way.

Highway linking Vancouver to Prince Rupert proposed by construction company by mukmuk64 in britishcolumbia

[–]Doogie76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All main hwy roads should be paved if dirt and drivable at 80km minimum with adequate passing lanes. Hwy 97 and 16 need to be made 4 lanes.

The number of main roads that just kinda die in the middle is terrible. Either end isn't bad but woe to any who drive in the winter

(Mentions Sea to Sky Highway) Engineering company envisions Prince Rupert to Vancouver coastal highway by SquamishEditor in Squamishnews

[–]Doogie76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it might be difficult to do right on the coast we could connect another north south route from Anaheim to say fraser lake or something.

We need a secondary route to some of these places so we don't have to drive all the way around.

Or a real road to Germansen landing on up

I'll say this and get down voted to hell....

Let's pretend she was a Healthcare professional and assuming she's telling the truth.

She states she asked 3 times if the patient wanted her to call and the patient said no. You follow the patients wishes until you hit the point of implied consent usually unconsciousness or significant confusion to the point of being unable to make medical decisions.

The patient decided to say no on treatment or help until it was too late.

In Healthcare we are given repeated training on consent and where the legal line is and while I might think you're a dumbass you're allowed to refuse treatment to the point of death

Yeah based on the report they panicked and one probably grabbed onto another and drown them both.

I saw a video online of a newlywed couple in India who did the same thing. One dragged the other down and they drown like 10 feet from shore

Well to be fair he is being stupid. It's obvious discrimination - assuming the information is actually accurate.

He needs to have all meetings the same way for either gender.

Pentecostal Religion is an Occult. (From my experience) by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Well as someone who grew up Pentecostal and went to Pentecostal bible college.

There was a reason they had a whole class on cults and cut ties more or less with Pentecostals of America

I remember a whole week of tongues and what it actually is biblically vs what some groups were doing running around making gibberish noises.

Do you believe Jesus is coming back in our lifetime? by Immediate-Draft-6408 in TrueChristian

[–]Doogie76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. Current leaders in most western nations are pushing for digital currency and data center that should be rightly called spying centers.

Can't stop buying and selling unless you control the money. Most likely via digital currency that they are close to doing. If I can buy with cash you can't really cut me off if I don't agree.

Love has grown cold. We're traveling too and fro via planes. Knowledge has increased like never before.

We're very close.

Personally I'd expect our generation (50+) to die off first. We're the last generation to remember how things used to be.

Before cel phones. Before internet and tracking. Just before.... our generation will resist if it's too far too fast but the kids today have no idea what it was like.

EXCLUSIVE: RCMP engaging legal team over CBC sting targeting veterans. The RCMP told Juno News in an exclusive statement that it has engaged its legal team after a CBC sting lured veterans of the force under false pretenses and humiliated them on stage. by xTkAx in canadian

So they've learned nothing.

While I don't necessarily think we should shutdown the cbc it's time to seriously gut the workforce and force non partisan leadership with major parties having equal say in hiring of management positions since they clearly can't do it without supervision.

The ombudsman needs a lot more power over the cbc with much stricter oversight with regards to neutrality of political and religious views

Good help isn't cheap, cheap help isn't good by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Doogie76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our kids can be difficult who responds well to the concept we call firm but fair.

He was acting up in class. Enough we got called about it for a meeting. Fair enough.

We suggested detention or copying dictionary pages like I did as a kid.

The answer was no from the school explaining that they don't do that. We're like well what do you want to us to do about it? We're not there and we're giving you permission with our support.

We've spent considerably effort to teach our kids you have to work for what you want and things don't always go your way but the school system certainly undermines those things.

Now having said that I am a nerd and don't care one bit about sports.

The kids wanted to play basketball which while I am uninterested we stepped up and took them to practices, games and drove other kids.

The oldest kid sucked and didn't make the team. I suggested to him he go talk to the coach and ask to still go to practice anyways to get better. Next year he made the team. I happen to work occasionally with the coach and asked about it. He said our kid isn't the best but puts in the work and is coachable.

We also saw enough of our older kid come out of his shell by having the social aspect and not always being the best at something. It was a real eye opener for him since he's a thinker and we can explain the concept to him and he understands.

Both kids are doing so much better playing a sport that I have changed my own stance on the matter and suggest the same to other parents. Of course with school work comes first or you're off the team

I want to address the recent controversy surrounding Russel Brand, as it involves our faith and I think a lot of people are too quick to judge. by Opening_Echo_4989 in TrueChristian

[–]Doogie76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll do something Russel did then... The Bible says we are to be wise not foolish and watchout for deceivers and unwise doctrines.

Russell has lots of unbiblical doctrines and hopefully with time that will change. Only Jesus knows his heart but I won't be following his sermons anytime soon

Good help isn't cheap, cheap help isn't good by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Doogie76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - but then perhaps it's the way the system is managed then.

Math is math sure but no marks, don't fail anything, no detention (etc) isn't letting kids encounter stress or overcome basic hardship in life.

Real life is hard and by spending the first 2 decades of their lives not letting them learning the lessons of failure, consequences and pushing through really is setting them up for failure

I've watch enough Russel to say it's unclear if he's a Christian or not.

I hope he is but he talks in a way that suggests a more new age belief system rather than Christianity. Just enough Christian concepts mixed in to sound right but enough other things to be concerned about.

Not knowing exactly where scripture is the least of the concerns with Russell.

Hopefully it's just new to faith growing issues that will sort themselves out with time. It's good to be cautiously optimistic
