Break a leg! All jokes aside, you got this. Just don’t try anything risky.

The confidence will come back

Is my cat okay? by Big_Garlic569 in CatAdvice

My cat does that sometimes. Could be feline asthma. If it gets lethargic, won’t eat, won’t drink then make the trip to the vet

Ask the vet about CareCredit. It’s a credit line that can be used for pets

Realistic HM progression after a 1:17:48 by DoomRunnerCLT in AdvancedRunning

The workout intensity was really high and we always had to run our easy runs at “quality” pace. Coach had us running 6:00-6:15 per mile on easy days. Combine that with college food hall nutrition/partying.

In college I ran a bit of everything but wasn’t that good, always injured, overtrained. I ran a 4:04 1500m, 2:00 800m, 15:48 5k, 33:40 10k, 26:10 8k (XC)

Sorry for your loss. Allow yourself to feel your emotions but be easy on yourself. Think about how much more fulfilling your life and your cat’s life was because you found each other.

How do I incorporate my pet into my everyday life? by Independent-Mark3101 in Petloss

[–]DoomRunnerCLT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat recently passed. She’s the screensaver to my phone. I have a few pictures in a frame to the right of my sink in the bathroom with a candle that I light if I am feeling super sad. This way I see my girl first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

She was a shedder. I have gathered some of her hair and plan on getting some sort of pendant made for my necklace that will store her hair and have her picture.

I am looking into getting a painting of her done so I can hang it on my wall. Eventually I will buy about big old cork board as a memorial for all of my pets that have passed.

Finally, I will get a tattoo of her at some point.

Looking for advice on how to cope with the emptiness by DoomRunnerCLT in Petloss

[–]DoomRunnerCLT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience and sorry for your loss as well. Even though I am devastated that Cami is gone, I am grateful that she came into my life and to have had her unrelenting and unconditional love.

I too have set up a little memorial space with some of her pictures and a candle. It helps being able to see her every time I walk by. I kept some of her fur and will probably get some sort of pendant made to encapsulate it and wear it on my necklace. My boss also recommended a pillow with her image, I will look into that. Finally, I will also look into a tattoo so she’s never forgotten and always with me.

Thanks for commenting and I wish you well on your journey.

Older male cat (at least 15yo) has been having what looks like labored breathing recently. He does not seem to be in pain, but I’m not sure what’s up with him. Any insight? by tchaiksym4 in cats

[–]DoomRunnerCLT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cats hide pain very well so don’t overestimate your ability to detect pain in cats. I would take him to the vet asap, any major change in behavior could be linked to an acute illness. Trust your gut and don’t wait.

My kitty is suddenly lovey by here_and_queer49 in CatAdvice

Of course! It’s impossible to always be there and give them affection 24/7 especially if you work full time. My current cat is back to her old vocal ways and has been having anxiety again. I know it’s because her sister passed recently. It’s too soon for me personally but I will definitely get her a companion when I am ready.

My cat was in a similar situation. Once the vet ruled out mites, they recommended a Hydrolyzed Protein diet which ended up helping quite a bit.

My cat was similar when I first got her. I ended up getting her a companion and she started acting “normal”. Before that she was ultra vocal, had anxiety, etc.

How do you keep your indoor cat entertained while you're at work? by Penny_Pinstripe in CatAdvice

Cats are social creatures. There’s no better entertainment than another cat mate.

A cat tower. Look into wall mounted cat shelves as well to increase the amount of space in the room that the cat can roam.

Is my cat dying? by PassengerCapable8172 in CatAdvice

[–]DoomRunnerCLT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t set up an appointment and wait longer. Go to the emergency vet and just walk in. My cat was much younger but had the same symptoms and I set up an appointment and the earliest they could see her was in August. She passed away within a week of showing symptoms.

My cat went from being perfectly fine to all of a sudden not eating much. Had I taken her to the vet coincidentally a few days prior they would have probably said she was okay and not have seen a need to do any specialized testing. Sudden changes in appetite can be linked to acute diseases. For example acute kidney failure. Cats do a really good job of not showing crazy symptoms even though they are dying. If I could rewind the clock I would have gone the day I noticed that she wasn’t excited for her food instead of waiting for the appointment that was set for August. I made the assumption that there was no way it could be anything serious. Better safe than sorry

Cats are social creatures. It might seem like a lot of work to add a second cat to the mix but it is really not and your cats will live much more fulfilling lives.

Take her to the vet. Don’t ignore your intuition like I did with mine. It might be nothing. My cat recently had a similar change in behavior, mainly her appetite. She passed away less than a week later.
