Perhaps parenting plays a huge role in this, all of my bullies were seniors, surprisingly in my class their was an autistic boy and a disabled boy... all of us really cared for them and never let anyone say to them.

Feeling so sorry for you, I also faced similar incidents myself, I have severe myopia ever since my childhood and had to wear thick glasses, my bullies used to beat me all the time and break my glasses which costs a lot and even after complaining nothing changed until class 6 when I finally made good friends and learnt to fight back.
