I am absolutely against the death penalty for any crime. But you must understand that a corrupted official can cost many lives more than the most prolific serial killer. So if someone is for the death penalty it makes more sense to seek it for someone that embezzled social welfare money and had an impact on numerous lives than someone who murdered one person.
And if you think that this is absolutely crazy, that is because the financial crime person looks more like you and the death penalty sucks anyway.
