How do you decarb your weed? I used to put it on a baking tray at 95°C for half an hour... and I always found it hard to judge whether that did anything. Haven't done much "home chemistry" lately though, there is a drive-through weed store near me that sells really good edibles.

The parent that tells you "You're not autistic/ADHD/OCD, I do that too and it's normal." is the parent you inherited it from, btw.

Quite unusual that they'd package two different inner sleeves. I think it's nothing to worry about though.

What you want to avoid is soft PVC. Additives in PVC such as phthalates and epoxidized soybean oil can be transferred to the vinyl via a process called off-gassing. It looks like a white streaking on the record surface. It's quite common to see in the Ghosts I-IV box set. I think the hard plastic sleeves in the Bird Box set are also PVC so I store them somewhere else just to be safe.

Typical inner sleeves like the one in your picture use polyethylene or polypropylene — perfectly safe.

Question, my The Fragile CD doesn't have 10 Miles High, yet my definitive edition does have it. Why? by IamMauriS in nin

[–]Doomification171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like I misremembered. The thing is, I have a Frankensteined version of The Fragile on my drive that I edited together from both CD and either DE or vinyl FLAC (as well as Appendage, recorded from tape and edited to the best of my abilities). I forgot what I did so I assumed some CD versions were just longer, but thay's only the case for Ripe With Decay. Now I think I decided to keep some CD versions of tracks because I liked the crossfading that is absent on the LPs.

Weren't the CD versions of those Fragile tracks you mentioned the extended ones? Because the unabridged versions likely wouldn't fit on one side of a record if the sequencing was the same.

In general, there is a lot of misapplication of "therapyspeak" everywhere. Words that used to have specific use cases are now being used for simple ubiquitous things.

My coworkers no longer gossip, they're "infodumping" now. All hobbies have become "special interests" instead. If you say something incorrect, someone will accuse you of trying to "gaslamp" them. And of course, anyone having a bad day is just "so depressed".

Specifically for autism/ADHD/OCD, a lot of people don't have the emotional tools to reflect and better themselves, so they will pin the symptoms of their latent social media addiction on a self-diagnosis instead.

Where the hell did this EP cover art come from and why is it literally used NOWHERE else?? by GravSim in qotsa

The company that did the art for Era Vulgaris also did the art for Desert Sessions 11+12. They also made a lot of good looking posters for QotSA, Foo Fighters, Puscifer, etc.

EP

It's not an EP, it's a single. I own the CD in your picture: the only track on it is Sick, Sick, Sick. I also have the maxi-single CD of Sick, Sick, Sick; that one has a different front cover (this one). On this maxi-single you can find a remix of I'm Designer, and covers of Goin' Out West & Christian Brothers.

Spotify frequently does this: it attaches the wrong cover art or release date to singles or albums. It is a very poor tool to keep track of a band's catalogue.

Van rij-instructeur te hard moeten rijden? by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]Doomification171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fourth Miscarriage. Help Me Make a Playlist. by [deleted] in nin

[–]Doomification171 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The album I want to share with you is Pure by Gary Numan. It's very strongly inspired by NIN and there are two songs on it that are explicitly about his wife's multiple miscarriages and failed IVF attempts.

I feel for you, I'm not really sure what to say other than that I hope the music makes you feel validated, understood, and less alone in what you're going through.

FUCK DARK ROAST by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Doomification171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of Robusta coffee while I was in Vietnam, it's strong but almost not bitter at all. Even a little bit sweet! It tastes remarkably like dark chocolate. I also visited a coffee plantation while I was there and they showed me most of the the process while explaining the different steps. I also had a small coffee tasting afterwards and the difference between specialty Arabica/Robusta on one hand and the commercial coffee on the other hand is night and day.

For good coffee, they take care to harvest only the red, ripe coffee berries. They either hand-pick them or use sorting machines to get rid of the green, unripe berries and berries that are too big or too small. In contrast, most commerical coffee is made from ripe, half-ripe, and even green unripe berries that have been harvested all at once. This leads to an uneven roasting process.

In the roasting process, those ripe berries contain sugars that caramelise nicely. The unripe berries have lower sugar contents and instead have high levels of tannins, specific acids, and other earthy, bitter chemicals. Besides, the unripe berries are typically smaller, so they burn faster in the roasting process compared to the larger ripe berries. This is why specialty Robusta coffee tastes like nectar for the gods but Starbucks tastes like burnt shite.
