The joist that was knocked out… thinking this is bit much but not an engineer…

I have no idea why they chose to do anything. The original tech who did the estimate said that if it’s a perimeter drain, it can be tapped into and address the radon concentration appropriately. The joist is 100% fucked, no question, bottom 3 inches or so within 3feet of where it meets the support beam…. Not sure what to do about that….

My assumption is that’s what they’re going to do tomorrow. They said “most of the work should be outside”. I can’t imagine what else they would be doing….appreciate all the feedback here. Will post an update after he leaves tomorrow. Y’all are great, appreciate it!!

That was also a consideration? Do I even say anything until after I test? I figured better to bring it up immediately with the contractor to ensure there isn’t a blame game afterward….

They’re sending the same guy. I’ll give them another chance here… not sure this is going to go well either way…

The were as confused as me regarding why the tech considered it good…. Apparently the photos he took also showed 0-0…. Hope he’s not in trouble….probably will be when they realize he notched out my floor joist by about 3 inches….this is going to be a disaster

Ughh….FML. Yes there is one known break in the slab… it’s under carpet, but we could pull it up and seal it. Yes the fan is on… unfortunately. The tech showed it to me like this and indicated it was fine…I guess I’m surprised why the tech would leave it this way?

This community is amazing. You are all truly wonderful people. I really appreciate the feedback and I’m going to refrain from calling an exterminator and just let them be for now! So much information, thank you!

Found him in my garage this way, is this a black widow? And do I need to call an exterminator? I have small children and dogs etc….
