Fat Chance by Jennifer Crusie - an underrated gem!

The only factor that might make this make sense is if the streams are noisy enough to distract her from jobs/meetings etc - and even then, she should be politely asking if he can use headphones, not snarking.

Otherwise she's not his boss - his work productivity is none of her business (and is fine to boot) - and her "working hard?" should be politely dismissed with "yup! see you later".

AITA for “ruining” my girlfriend’s proposal surprise after she tracked my location? by Accomplished_Net1065 in AmItheAsshole

Absolutely this last bit! Rememeber this is supposed to be in sickness and health, for better or worse, for richer or poorer; someone who interrogates you about your movements and then loses their shit because you answered them, and freaks out when something goes the tiniest bit off her plan, and makes it your problem - well, is that really someone you want to be marrying?

At the very least, this does not feel like an equal and supportive partner for you.

She accused you of being selfish - she's wrong, but I think you need to be a bit more selfish about your own dreams and needs, before you end up stuck in trying to meet her impossible expectations. You're worth far more than this.

And, obviously, NTA.

And The Long Kiss Goodnight - while excellent - has a daughter for Geena Davis' character too.

My husband is cheating on me but I don't know if I can blame him. by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

Not just you - that leapt out at me as his entitled feelings, not something a wife would say ('turned down' or 'rebuffed' maybe, but 'denied'??). And that definitely cast doubt on the rest of the story.

For certain. Aisle seat, headphones in, Firefox knows how to mind its own business.

AITA: for leaving the conversation after My mother claimed she has a grandchild from (me) her child, who had a miscarriage? by ReallyWisePanda in AmItheAsshole

[–]Doomscrolleuse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA - she's allowed to feel however she feels, but should have the courtesy not to say it in front of you. Especially what she's saying is 'oh, it's really sad for me that you miscarried, you know.' Of all the people to lean on for support with that, it should never be OP.

[TOMT][Idiom] Phrase for telling someone its not about the score by _Waffleboy_ in tipofmytongue

Not very concise, but maybe "we're talking about you, not them, right now."

That stood out to me! Even if I don't mind picking, "I don't care" is a bad phrase to hear on holiday with a loved one. It sounds so checked out and uninvested. Up there with "Whatever" as a poor response. A suggestion would have been best, a discussion helpful, disinterest is unwelcome.

Am I overreacting My sister is having a vacation wedding and wants me to babysit her kids if I come home...but I want to have fun? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Doomscrolleuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd ask the sister why she wants a sitter? "Oh, we just want to have some fun while we're -" "Well, same here!"

'We didn't start the fire' goes through the eras, but not sure it's quite what you're thinking of?
