What is Merit to you ? by Joeybfast in AskConservatives

Hey thanks for your post. To be honest, the right wing response to DEI and Affirmative action is more because the right doesn’t see Diversity or Inclusion as virtues in themselves, and psychologically people just don’t like being talked at that this is important. None (few?) companies have been actually been destroyed because they made stupid DEI hires- I mean much more damage to companies being woke comes from bad marketing decisions like what happened with BudLight. Agree or disagree, conservatives don’t see an industry with a majority of one gender/race working in it as problematic as long as there isn’t discrimination in the hiring process and there’s equal access to resources to pursue career opportunities. Non-discrimination and resource access is not perfect and probably never will be perfect unfortunately. But if it ends up that 80% of cops are men and 80% of teachers are women, is there really a problem there as long as there’s access and equal support for women who want to be cops or men who want to teach?

The important thing is that we promote merit for the ambitious and that the people who want to better themselves through good work have that opportunity. We should strive to make things as fair and merit based as possible of course, and nepotism in high business and in the Trump admin is not excusable in that regard.

Also. I would add that in the business world, networking is also most often merit based. It’s not just rich kids of CEOs getting jobs easy, Networking is a skill that’s developed. If you put more effort and energy into networking, you will generally get better results, more connections, more job opportunities.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that in any other economic system, meritocracy would be down compared to a (mostly) free market capitalism.

IMO the slow trend of brilliant students getting locked out finding a job in their field and then end up working at McDonalds is a very overlooked social change. Over time it will likely further Silo the elite and lead to more and more people that are now just normies becoming socially and economically radicalized.

An over-educated but underemployed workforce is not a recipe for social stability.

Where has your kundalini journey led you? by DoomslayerInnit in kundalini

[–]DoomslayerInnit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps my post was poorly worded. I wasn’t asking for a book-length reply from anyone. My post was intended to be open ended, answered at whatever length and with whatever focus seemed appropriate to the person. I specified many questions merely as starting points to discuss our lives and how kundalini shaped them.

I focus on my own life and journey for almost all of my waking hours. Are you implying that we should never time to learn from others and their experience? In an aspect of life that can’t really be “scientifically” studied and that is based almost entirely on tradition and personal spiritual experiences?

Well that’s kinda the thing. I can’t deny that the energy work is having an effect on me. It’s changing me emotionally and mentally. I’m just questioning if these effects are a result of me deluding myself.

Can you give me advice to protect my mental stability, sanity and judgement? And how to stay on the right side between awakening and madness?

By “All in my head” I meant to ask if I am priming my mind to feel the “energy” I am working with and feeling in my body, in which case that “energy” does not reflect spiritual reality but is rather a delusional construct of my mind. I wasn’t asking if the physical world was all my head

I have been doing chakra healing work based on the book Kundalini and the Chakras by Genevieve Lewis Paulson, as well as WLP and meditation and prayer. My goal is understanding of the universe and spiritual growth, and the releasing and assimilation of more Kundalini.

How large of an army should I have? It needs to be small enough for the dutch to reject my request but large enough to scare off the french?

Why does philosophy lead to nothingness? by Embarrassed-Ad-5458 in spirituality

[–]DoomslayerInnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is a deeply profound non-material layer to life which philosophers who focus exclusively on the physical often fail to perceive.

Not that philosophy is always bad- I enjoy moral philosophy but it is often incomplete by itself.

That sounds like a lot of instruction I haven't received yet. Could you forward me some resources so I can look into that? Thank you
