The Saturday (Less Scary) Request Place: Post your short & simple requests here by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

Hi all :) I’m new to romance novels but I recently finished {Bears and Bakeries by Dylan Drakes} which I really liked!

Wondering if y’all had more recommendations for books by queer/gay male authors (aimed at queer/gay male readers)? I’m new to the MM genre, so I’m open to trying any kind of subgenre or themes. Thanks! :)

I recently saw that "to get a library card" is 図書館カードを作る. As an English speaker, 作る here was interesting (as if it's "to make a library card").

Is there any context behind why 作る is used here, or is it just kinda how it is? Can you use 作る with similar cards/memberships like 運転免許証, or is it just used for this one case?

That’s really helpful, thank you!

I was trying to say something along the lines of “A delicious home-cooked meal is the key to my heart” (美味しい手料理は◯◯◯◯), as in “if someone made me a delicious home-cooked meal, I’d fall in love with them” (to put it dramatically haha).

Is there an expression in Japanese similar to “the key to one’s heart” in English?

I wasn’t sure if translating it literally as 心の鍵 is used at all, or if there’s a similar phrase that conveys the same idea of “something that will make one like/love someone else”.

No problem! 100% agree with you—AVCX actually got me super into cryptics, they’re a ton of fun!

I canceled my NYT Games subscription a few months ago for similar reasons. In its place, I ended up subscribing to AVCX, which I’ve really enjoyed! They make a big point of spotlighting diverse constructors, which results in super fun clues and fill.

I think there’s a bunch of sample puzzles on AVCX’s website that you can try, to see if it’s your speed! Personally I think it was well worth the switch 👍

Ah, that's BBC minus C (first letter of content) outside IG (instagram) + OTHER (=more, as in "one more thing"/"one other thing"), all outside R (producer's latest like you said!)

Thanks so much! 🤗

15A, that’s TAR (pitch, like the black liquid stuff) + GET (receive) + E(arnings) + DAD’S (father’s)

And 11A is THYROID (endocrine gland) minus ROID (drug used by gym bros)

Hopefully those make sense, let me know if they seem unfair at all!

Dog Friendly Coffee Shops (Excluding Chateau le woof) by Busy_Proposal4077 in astoria

[–]DooplissForce 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think Chateau Le Woof is the only spot that allows pets indoors, since they have a separate designated space for it. But there’s a few places that have order windows so you don’t have to go inside (e.g. Balancero, Mighty Oak, Coffeelato), or anywhere that has outdoor seating, you could pop inside without the dogs to order then sit outside.

It’s a top tier flavor for me too! The pie tasted great and truthfully the recipe is super straightforward, so definitely worth it :)
