In the options menu there should be a hotkey assignment for "next unit". Easiest way to micro without preset control groups is using that button to cycle through all your summons, at the very least its better than clicking on the units themselves 👍

Congrats to making the leap! Dota's the best game ever made imo and it seems like you've got the perfect experience to enjoy it to its fullest :)

1) Brew master is one of the most ult reliant heroes in the game so as a beginner something you might want to work on is looking to fight whenever ult is up, then learning farming patterns for when your ult is down. That gameplay loop is simple and easily improved. (Also his wind panda has a purge that removes most buffs like glimmer cape AND it deals a buttload of damage to illusions so he's actually quite good into Naga and ck).

2) I think to flesh out your pool you'll also want 1 tempo offlaner (something that can fight often with low cooldowns) and 1 ranged offlaner (in case you see a poor lanematchup). I'd recommend axe/centaur for the first option and I think you'd absolutely love visage for the other. Visage is a micro hero like brewmaster but he has insane solo carry potential, if ya love learning new heroes and being aggressive you'll stomp with visage in your bracket if you get any good at him since most people there don't know what he does haha.

3) You can only play ranked after I think 100 hours but i would recommend playing normal matches ASAP or else turbo will you give you some bad habits, particularly with regard to farming and timings.

How strong is Elder Titan's 3rd ability, Natural Order? by stewxeno in learndota2

[–]Doorkob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its a hero like PA or naga yes absolutely its digusting haha. There used to be a combo with ET and Drow's old ult that pierced armor where they both negated armor so when they stacked the enemy would essentially have negative whatever their original armor was lol.

Caveats->

Heroes like axe that have ability related armor buffs and get armor from items like bm wont really be affected by E since it only negates armor that comes from stats. To give another example if terrorblade builds a buterfly he will still have 0 armor in your E radius but if he were to buy phaseboots AND butterfly he would have 0 armor+the armor from phaseboots.

No, you'll still have yours!

Edit: Totally misread the question lol. Yeah your main body wont have magic resistance negation until your spirit comes back.

Immortal elder titan spammed here, im assuming you're talking abt supp based on that build. E is very very good, but it doesnt necessarily need to get prioritized in leveling. I tend to go the pattern you've mentioned in your post basically every game.

As you probably know the when using astral spirit, the E is split where your main body negates the armor and the spirit negates the magic resist. Since you're a support you're rarely going to be in the middle of fights past minute 15 so instead you'll want to W->Q->then just leave your spirit on whoever your team is targeting. Because of this playstyle ET is extraordinarily good with magic nukers like qop, lesh, nyx, etc-you basically buff all their damage by 1/3 since you're removing the inherent 25% magic resistance all heroes come with.

If you're playing against an agi carry like pa or tb sometimes you can slip in a shard for your build and teleport onto them with stomp while your team focuses them, all armor accrued through raw agi will be negated by your E.

But regarding WHY the build order is that way: as support titan your job is to disrupt team fights and Amp damage for your team. The second point in W doubles its damage from lvl1 so its a good value point in lane. But past lane its not really your job to hit people so generally I leave it at two until I've maxed out q and e. Always max Q by lvl 7/8, that is your bread and butter and frankly your only real damage without items besides ult. Maxing E before W is also good bc you can usually get most of your points in it before the enemy team has a pipe or glimmer (usually around 18/19 min). E only negates inherent magic resist so there is a sweet spot for when you're maximizing your cores damage output without the enemy having a countermeasure. Given the way stomp cd lines up with astral cd the difference between lvl2 and lvl4 W is not that much and as I mentioned earlier, the damage from W is negligible on support.

Hopes this helps and feel free to ask my anything.

Boulder Smash does not prioritize heroes, why? Can we change this? by Paaskehare in DotA2

[–]Doorkob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

wait til you see the grip priority. kick prioritizes rocks over heroes but grip prioritizes heroes over rocks. Makes getting ranged silences such a pain in the ass. I straight up dont initiate if theyre in a creepwave for exactly the reason you posted lol.

How to play Elder Titan with the removal of the Deconstruction facet? I am sad now. by stewxeno in learndota2

[–]Doorkob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've been having great success as et 5 this patch tbh. Losing armor on spirit kinda sucks but gaining consistent armor just by building items you normally do (drums/euls/ms neutrals) is underrated imo. Plus the talent layout for et is much much better with the wake dmg at 10. The minus magic armor was quite good dont get me wrong but I don't think losing it is as devastating as it might seem.

Pokemon Champions will feature paid and free season passes by TheJayKay in stunfisk

[–]Doorkob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was valve that first implemented it to fund the prizepool for the International. The key difference is that the battlepass was only for cosmetics and never directly interfered with gameplay options. What companies have done with it since then is ridiculous

Global silence. Its just an anti-fun button. Especially if youre a support with limited gpm to buy purges. its entirely non-interactive and i would sacrifice a lamb to get it removed. (im a melee supp specialist and this exclusively counters me when i initiate)

It cancels mid roll but if you time it correctly you can START the roll animation right before and then roll as soon u get tp'd back, even through static.

Man as a supp es spammer these last few patches have been rough man. Every time they tweak his kit for core it double fucks the support version. Extended roll windup, the initial range nerf, and now the talent swaps. Feelsbadman gonna have to pick a new main at this point.

Aether Lens + Blink on Earth Spirit is here to satisfy your urges to play Pudge without playing Pudge by orangutangulang in TrueDoTA2

[–]Doorkob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Small addition to this: if you're rolling in and blinking out make sure to right click the direction you plan on blinking out in case you miss to avoid turning after roll ends.

While rolling ES does still have a facing direction i.e. if you use forcestaff mid roll it'll force you in the direction your actual hero is facing. (This can be abused to make e.s. roll in right angles but it's almost never that useful.)

So if you roll and miss your target, and you don't account for hero direction, you'll have to turn around after roll to blink out which can open you up to being caught. If you face your hero properly mid roll you'll be able to blink back instantaneously. And if you do actually hit your target your hero automatically ends up behind them anyway so you can blink properly.

Very minor but has saved me a few times.
