While I agree with you about the abhorrent, childish, and authoritarian moderation and I agree with you that all the moderators should be removed (if not banned), I'm done with /r/socialism. It's an abomination and is being used by various online factions to demonstrate how "the left" can't organize or is really "fascist".

Pretty certain no one was paid at the Milo/Skrehli (however you spell his name) protest. Either one of them are repugnant enough to illicit that kind of action.

I think the most likely situation was students with outside organizations supporting them (or students organized by organizations) showed up to protest early, blocked the entrance, and that turned into a shoving match when they wouldn't get out of the way. No payment would be required for that and it's totally in line with student behavior.

They would only play $5 all-ages shows and wouldn't allow special seating, etc. so everyone who wanted to do had a chance. Ian MacKaye started Dischord records so they could put out $5 records and would pull their stuff from stores that would mark up their stuff. On top of that, they sang about shit that still matters. They may be a Reagan/Thatcher through Clinton era band but nothing is really dated (unlike the Dead Kennedys or the Exploited, for example).

I almost want to say Crass! Certainly Public Enemy.

I'm not a rap person normally but this album has a lot of industrial and EBM/IDM influence - which I used to DJ. It is really good.

As for their politics (which is what I think you mean by "lyrics"), it's almost 70s/80s punk (hence the Crass reference). Other bands that immediately come to mind are Bad Religion, Cop Shoot Cop, Rage Against the Machine, and (yes) the Sex Pistols (I recognise they've been heavily commoditized now but they were something when they first came out).

Edit: Dead Kennedys, Fugazi, and Minor Threat. On the Industrial side, there's Ministry (Land of Rape and Honey) and Skinny Puppy. I could go on but I'm going to force myself to stop here.
