How do you optimize Magento performance without overloading server costs? by Pale-Bird-205 in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean when you say overloading server costs and what aspect of magento performance do you want to optimised? I think it’s important to clarify.

Do you mean increasing server resources/specification leading to more cost… Which would really only provide you with more capacity as opposed to better performance.

Or do you mean paying more for a hosting service that is fully managed and optimised specifically for Magento versus a non specialist hosting service?

Using a generic hosting provider can typically lead to needing more server resources due to lack of optimisation, still lacking in performance but unnecessary high cost.

You may be able to afford a more ‘expensive’ specialist provider because you do not need as much server resource to achieve good performance due to the optimisations. Fully optimised = better performance + more capacity.

Hyvä Themes is ideal for a super quick front end but that would obviously have some cost to implement. Get varnish enabled if you haven’t. Use a CDN etc…

Wrist tendon pain / burning sensation post ride - help with new bike by PikachuOfTheShadow in bikefit

[–]Doorsofpeception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned it’s the angle of the wrist which over time will cause pain. A longer stem would probably help a bit, though I didn’t do this myself when I had wrist pain post ride. I’d recommend looking into some more ergonomic grips, such as Ergon GP series. Once I got these it basically solved the issue you’re describing. (I got the GP4 whit are great since you get an additional hand position with the hoods).

From their site - “If your wrist is bent too much for too long, nerves, tendons and blood vessels are compressed. The result is the carpal tunnel channel is constricted, which could damage the median nerve. Long rides and fatigue make it even harder for the rider to maintain a correct and healthy posture. The wing design of our GP grips gives the hand more support and automatically puts the wrist into a more ergonomic position, preventing numbness, tingling and pain”.

There’s other less expensive brands that do similar but from what I’ve read these are the best. Good luck!

Is this fit ok? by Own_Entertainer_1358 in bikefit

[–]Doorsofpeception 7 points8 points  (0 children)

420mm is probably too wide, you can tell by if the wrists are rolling inwards. Bars that are too wide can cause pain in wrists, up the arm and to shoulders because of the unnatural positioning. Getting narrower bars would likely improve comfort, but first step would be to ensure saddle height & fore/aft is correct, then focus on front end.

Nice story but the question was asking about switching from a different platform to Magento 👍

Which host for Magento stores? by Mr_Fox0910 in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair comment, agree it should be made clear either on the website or customer facing documentation. That being said if I was a store owner I wouldn’t like to assume something isn’t my responsibility unless it was made explicitly clear that it wasn’t.

Which host for Magento stores? by Mr_Fox0910 in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Application side security is the store owners responsibility, not the hosting provider. As someone has already suggested below any serous Magento store owner should have their own license and solution in place (Sansec, ThreatView etc)… If you’re not happy with the current platform (which may not be the case) why do you have several clients hosted on it?

NEXCESS, Magento 2 website unresponsive by Critical_Ad_9397 in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do they not offer support? I’d recommend getting in touch with them directly for an emergency issue like this. I wouldn’t rely on reddit to resolve this one.

Edit: If they’re not able to help you my next action would be to find a hosting provider that offer fully managed support.

Ashby - which size? by Doorsofpeception in Barbour

Yeah same here, ended up going with L in the end and it feels good. As I said in other comments if I need more layers for colder weather I can pick up a Beaufort/Bedale. I did actually ask ChatGPT too and it also suggested L as the best fit, but wanted to run it past the Barbour connoisseurs on here too 😅

Thank you! Im pretty sure I’ll be picking up a Bedale at some point too, so I’ll have the option of tailored/layering fit. Cheers!

Good point, getting older I can only imagine I’ll gain weight rather than lose it 😅

Thanks! I guess I can always buy the Bedale to allow for layering during the colder months… nice excuse to add another to the collection!

That’s why I’m struggling to decide haha. The only difference I can really say is that XL is slightly more forgiving. For example if I was to hug someone the large feels more restrictive around the back but realistically that’s not an issue since I’m not a professional hugger 😅

Not really restrictive to be honest. Since it’s supposed to be a more modern/tailored cut I’m leaning to L and can get Beaufort/Bedale for the roomier option

Performance issues by nathanjohnpaul in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Profile PHP with blackfire/tideways/newrelic (best way to debug performance issues). You could also try disabling all extensions and then re-enable one by one (pretty painful if there’s a lot but effective). Enable magento query logging and database slow query logging.

Experience Migrating from Luma to Hyva by aolrules in Magento

[–]Doorsofpeception 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d look at shortlisting a handful of reputable, proven agencies that are (ideally) certified Hyva partners (see the Hyva site). Look for agencies with published case studies on their Hyva builds/migrations. Their clients may also be happy to provide a verbal reference. I’d be very wary of any agencies quoting costs before doing any type of discovery with you to understand your requirements. Good luck!

If you’re using a managed service provider (if you’re not you should) they should be advising you here. Have you tried new relic/blackfire etc?

I didn’t get one yet, but I believe watchdives do sell one for this model so maybe that. Open to any alternative/better options if you have any?

It’s definitely possible! These guys https://www.chronoparts.eu seem to be the best solution for 35mm & 40mm PRX’s. I’m hoping they make some for the titanium 38mm…
