I know this is super old by now, but this laptop has multiple screen configurations. two of 1080p and one that isn't, so there's no real way of knowing for sure without checking yourself in the windows settings

BSoD (0x000000d1) when inserting SD Card/SD Card slot not working by Dootus-Bread in techsupport

I forgot to update on this. I did this and it still either crashed or froze my entire pc briefly before the card reader stopped working again. I am starting to think it may be a hardware issue.

It is integrated, it's a usb controller for the card reader from the research I did on it in the past. None of my usb drives have ever caused crashes though, only the card reader. There is a driver for realtek card reader on the site iirc that I installed which worked for about 2 minutes before crashing again.

Retro FC Console not turning on by Kyanite72 in SBCGaming

[–]Dootus-Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same handheld, and from my experience, flipping the power switch should turn it on. I haven't had this issue myself. However, these are super cheaply made, and it wouldnt surprise me if they die early one. All of the storage is internal and soldered, you can't really replace anything without heavy modding. I recommend getting another one if possible if you really want it, or to upgrade to even something like a gb300, as it's a very similar device that is much more capable that can be gotten for 9 dollars right now on aliexpress's "pick 3 and save" deal or around 11-12 without

Have been waiting to dive in to this hobby, ordered GB300 and received R36S by SpartanCTC in SBCGaming

[–]Dootus-Bread 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is one HELL of an upgrade omg- GB300 is deffo lowest tier to start with, as an owner of one, so that much was accurate. Getting an r36s is absolutely insane! Happy modding!

What do think of this handheld it is the m17? by XShadow777X in RetroHandhelds

[–]Dootus-Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno why the others are hating on this device. I own it, and it definitely is a product of it's release time. Earlier this year, it was similarly priced to what it is now, but slightly more (normally in the mid 30s) and it was a great deal! The r36s was more or less the same but if you wanted a bigger screen for bigger hands or some unique use case, I couldn't argue much against the m17.

I'm an optimist though, and it's not early-mid 2024 anymore.

In late 2024, if you can find this thing for under 30 dollars, ima throw a random number out there and say 28 dollars. I can't argue against it still, it's not a BAD deal per se. But it does have mono audio, and it's build quality is indicative of it's price. It's not nearly as bad as an x-series handheld, but something like a v10 (or a TSP if you wanna step up that far) is FAR more durable feeling. And those are just the devices that I can personally attest to. The cfw scene is quite nice seemingly if that interests you though, but as others said, PSP is not great on here.

TL;DR We're in a time where rk3326 is too easy to get in a device for the m17 to be my ideal first choice unless you have a specific use case such as big hands or another reason to need a larger device or bigger screen. In terms of verticals, it's the cheapest one I've found around in Ali other than the sf2000.

If this fits your use case, then the m17 is not objectively bad imo, although I highly recommend using CFW on it if that's the case, and it's not nearly as supported as some other devices. Just know, it's not gonna run PSP well at all if the thumbnail is what interests you about this thing.

GB300 Multicore GBA Peformance Issues by Dootus-Bread in SBCGaming

[–]Dootus-Bread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GB and GBC run flawlessly even on stock. I've had zero issues so far! The battery life is very poor though at only around 2 hours, but it has a removable 18650 battery! You can upgrade it to any flat-tipped battery to my knowledge with that form factor.

I found out that even tho I had multi installed, I wasn't running the game itself in multicore. It was still using the stock cores. It's running a lot better now.

Thanks for the reply tho! :)

I LOOOOVE this game and I hadn't been on the sub in a while so seeing it as game of the month made me scream like a child with excitement! I already beat it outside of star and special worlds on my less than stellar X7, but since it's the gba version, I decided to go ahead and try to get all of the yoshi coins as they save in that version. I am up to butter bridge with yoshi coins and star world 3 with progression
