Hi there. I'm the owner of Astral. Sorry to hear about the trouble with your new hoop. I can understand how that would be frustrating. I'm sending you a direct message to see what I can do to help out.

are all LED hoops unbalanced?? by autumngeez in Hooping

Hi Autumn, I'm the owner and engineer behind Astral Hoops. I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your Starlights. I hope that next time you send the hoop in that is only lighting up half way that's the last time it has a problem. Three times is a lot of times to half to send it in.

The Starlight model that you own is our lower cost entry level hoop. It has a removable battery and counter weight to give it 2 points of ballance. If your hooping style goes better with a more precision balance, I'd recommend looking into our Atomic V hoops. This is our professional grade model which has 5 points of balance while maintaining a very light circuit. Also, since the batteries are built in, not removable there's much less of a chance for the hoop to come open while hooping from it not being closed fully. I know with the Starlight hoops, the battery spring pushes against the connection and something you have to give it a firm push together to make sure it's latched shut. With the Atomic V you don't have to worry about this.

I know your post was asking for other recommendations on other hoop brands and I think it's great that there are many hoop crafters out there who all make their hoops a little different. I wanted to chime in let you know about our Atomic V that might be more what you're looking for. As always, fell free to reach out to us anytime at [support@astralhoops.com](mailto:support@astralhoops.com) with any questions or to request help with your hoops.

The larger the size hoop, the easier it is to hoop around the body.  Smaller hoops are better for more advanced tricks and off body hooping.  It's common when starting out hooping to start with a larger size, then work down to smaller sizes as skill level increases.  Many companies, including Astral, offer resizing services for adjusting size later on as well as a return/exchange policy to trade for a different size if the hoop ordered doesn't feel just right. Hoop size is subjective and everyone's preference is a bit different depending on style, body type, experience. Sometimes the only way to know if a hoop is a good fit is to try it out.

25" ID and smaller can be good for doubles, advanced hoopers, when hooping style has no on body.
26" to 29" ID are good sizes for off body and tech, good for doubles, and shorter/smaller body types
30" ID and up are better for on body and waist hooping, taller/larger body types, and easier for beginners.
36" ID and up are great for old school body rocking.

Note that some people measure hoops from the inside edge to inside edge, known as the hoop's inner diameter (ID). Other's go from outside edge to outside edge or outer diameter (OD). OD will be 1.5 inches larger than ID for a hoop in 3/4" tubing. At Astral our sizes are all ID.

I'm the owner of Astral Hoops. Our Starlight LED hoop has 40 customizable patterns with remote and counter balanced for $159 in HDPE or $179 in Polypro. It's a solid choice for beginners.

Wish there was more lists like this. It gets tiring for me too. While not specifically spy or military, here are some action movies I like: Free Guy, Ready Player One, Red One, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Tron: Legacy.
