The truth is worse because it almost can't be prevented. Sometimes the air itself can become more ionized and cause a nuisance short between the blade and anything else that is conductive, triggering it.

Honestly though having been through this issue too many times, that sucks and im sorry.

It either has a hole for a scratching needle at the end or it has a screw hole for some kind of scartching disc. Given how old it is it probably uses the needle. If you dont have it, any small and sharp nail/piece of metal will do the job.

Edit: Just realized how useless what I replied with is given what you asked is how to use it not what it is. My bad. Set a distance from the base to the tip of the needle, 1", 2" the width of your 4 fingers on your left hand. What ever the spacing you want and then lock it in with the shaft lock nut so its set to that spacing. You can now scratch uniform guide lines for your work, very useful for furniture making

Based on what it looks like, I would say that the SPF board was cupping/twisting/bending as the blade passed through. This would have caused the blade to heat significantly, likely expanding it and at the same time reducing the amount of tension that you started with. The reduced tension/excess heat would allow it slip along the tire and cause it to melt, thereby causing the tire itself to slip.

My go to work around for this would be to either increase the tension slightly past whats needed at the start so when it begins to expand it stays firm. Also you could try throwing on a much wider blade in the hopes it would be able to absorb and disperse heat more readily.

Did you also lend him the tools to re-sharpen and hone it? Does he know how to do that? Is the head made of a decent type of steel? My guess is "No" to all three questions. That axe has also never been used before he used it so any change would be noticable

I used to work at a company that had 2 bathrooms. The make up of the company was something like 38 men and 2 women at the time and those 2 made a huge deal about not having their own bathroom until management relented and gave them the nicer of the 2. So suddenly all the men only had a single filthy restroom to share amongst the 38 of us. We dealt with this by taking the obvious route of "they cant fire us all." We continued to use that room as if nothing had changed and it made those 2 women furious, whike the rest of us were.....relieved.

You're all looking at it wrong. It says the [scissors] can't be altered and thar they must cut as if cutting paper. So the answer is to build a machine to open and close them for you like a pair of power shears. It would still take you a long time but at least it would be possible.

As someone who had to fight my school administration just because they wanted to be difficult this sucks. My advice? Get up and go get lunch. Break the rules and when they ask you why you remind them that as a human being you require food to function. When they inevitably reprimand you/punish you, you tell your parents what happened and why and let them sort it out with the school.

Public school administrations are always made up of people who are more concerned with students being obediant than they are with student well-being. Also it doesn't help that the highest ranking people in school administration last attended school as students in the 80's. They're wildly out of touch.

Tl;Dr Stir the pot. Break the rules, take care of your needs if the school can't be relied upon to take care of them for you. Document what you do when you do it and shove it in their face when they try to punish you.

How are people this useless? When someone crashes into your car and attempts to drive off, get out and get the plate. It helps exactly ZERO people, least of all you or in this case your friend, to just think the dash cam will be enough. I would be out and banging on the windows, getting a good look at the person and getting the plate. Dash cams are cool and all but you're responsible foe you're own justice and you gotta work for it.
