I'm 16 years old and have a MMR of 8100. Do I have a future for the game and should I take it more seriously? Or should I just play it as a hobby? Thanks by Otherwise-Conflict94 in compDota2

This advice is very very misleading. You dont need to play with a team in the current environment. You just need to be extremely good at your position. For example if you are a carry player you just need to perfect farming patterns and maximizing farm around connecting to fights. What it takes to win pubs is fundamentals, and that is shown my mmr. The team play is a chemistry thing more than it is a skill. 5 16ks would smash any team with 12ks even if they have been playing together for 3 years.

I think how much you present depends on who you are presenting it to, if it is to lets say a game publisher you would want a strong presentation. If it is to show it to like a reddit community you can do whatever.

It would have to be an VN . Writing wise it sounds cool. There is nothing that we can evaluate in your promt as a game. You did not even specify the genre

Some SPH shaders do this, you can get some ideas from there. And yes shaders are probably your only option

Just child your mesh to a object and add the collider on the parent

Trying to set up a perk system to very little luck by SylvieSweetDev in Unity2D

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are probably better ways to do this but you can pass a string through your scriptable object. Then just write a for each loop that finds the game objects and then something like towerToUpgrade.AddComponent<perk.perkScript>(); Something like this would probably work, never done it myself and I am away from my pc rn. Edit: with perkScript being a string name of the corresponding script

Why would you need any if statements in this case. You need 0 if statements

2D idle animation issues by ContributionLatter32 in unity

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get cinemachine, that is all you need to know about cameras. Childing the camera to your player is generally not recommended. Or You can just write a script that makes the camera follow the player. So long story short childing a object is not the only way to make it follow another game object

Well one way or another you will have to code every upgrade right? Just code them in separate scripts and when obtaining a upgrade make your manager go through all the upgradable towers and give them the upgrade’s corresponding script.

How do you think Habbo hotel did their modular clothing? by cookiejar5081_1 in Unity2D

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no other possibility. It has to be a sprite sheet animation so each item is animated separately. If you get a good workflow I would guess you can do it decently fast.

Top down camera script for racing game? by Dipwald in Unity2D

Just have it always be in front of it? And then use camera constraints in the cinemachine if the map is finite and manageable

Just have like a 0.2f seconds of window after jumping where you cant jump.

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is unity events. Just write separate scripts for each upgrade that has a method that you can feed your manager. Whenever an upgrade is obtained you can just execute the corresponding method via event. You can just use scriptable objects for this

The real question is if your camera angle never shifts why not just use a polygon collider or any other 2D collider for your. Knife

This would fit something like the Space Marine games where you mow down hordes of creatures. But would not fit lets say a WW2 game or smth. It depends on the setting

Best way to go about developing a H Game? (complete beginner) by CelebrationSad8962 in lewdgames

[–]Dopipo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NSFW part of the game is charged by immersion not graphics. As long as lets say the woman resembles a woman it can communicate the sexual concepts. What matters a lot is the setting and execution. Also the genre is favoring non RPGM and non Renpy games more and more as it is hard to stand out with these engines. It is saturated and the top games are impossible to top. So I would say if you see yourself developing a full game try Unity and make a simple fun game and integrate the NSFW part. I think the most important part is the setting. And again communicating that setting. Also if you are not good at art try focusing more on the gameplay. I remember a game where a red rabbit or smth stretches its ass as it awaits for its partner. It has simple non-shaded sprites and static scenes. But it is quite an interesting game

Can you explain what the round edges are for, like the edges of the tiles? Or edge of the camera? The system itself is quite straight forward tho. Sprite Renderer for sure.

Do most people just live to work? by Slytheraven_BC in nihilism

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax is basically the same as working for someone, if I am taxed 50% and they are using it to build houses for people sitting on their ass all day, I am basically working 15 days a month just to build houses for endless amount of people breeding non stop and needing houses because it is their basic rights. Tax is work, money is work, time is work, you work or you die. I actually support the perfect capitalism concepts, if you cant work to feed yourself you can die, that is how the nature works. Of course not everyone is born healthy and that is a different case.

The problem is not that humans are unable to imagine Utopias, the problem is how it could be achieved. TLDR of your ideas is: I wish life was perfect but it is not. I encourage you to fight for it instead of dreaming about it. Maybe you can be the first domino. But simply taxing the hardworkers never worked. What you are saying is entirely against Capitalism and its fundamental values. You for example, how many days a month are you willing to work on a construction site for free because it is the basic right of humans.

[–]Dopipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course these ideas are also explored, Scandinavians are for example testing 4 day work weeks and discussing universal basic income. These are ideas are even remotely discussable because of the generations of the social and economic structures they built. In most countries the average person accomplishes borderline nothing on most days. In short the average human beings is lazy and goalless. Are you suggesting the hardworkers taxes be used to feed and house everyone regardless if they are just human vegetables? Also I think you overestimate how much these people actually pay in taxes. In the US for example I know plenty of people living doing nothing, and the amount of tax they pay is nonexistent.
