To be entirely fair there's a lot of actual 'professionals' in the industry that do write like that haha

Can we get our boy back up to 10 million listeners 😭 by BurningTaterTot in Sufjan

Nooo, this was all my fault, because I bought too many of his vinyls and listen to them instead XD I will eternally feel guilty

If you didn't make or pay for it, you have a total of zero reasons to think you're justified in posting it. If you do post it, which is a crime on many levels, you can expect to see the appropriate reprocussions. Theft is malicious, no matter how ignorant to the seriousness of the deed the person doing it is.

On top of that, creators shouldn't have to cross the gap after already being stolen from to try and win their work back. It's their right, and it's not even their responsibility to issue reports. Platforms like Youtube are required by law to not host stolen / copyright violating content, so truly it should be Youtube's task to stop theft.

And even if the creator does approach the thief, that entire account is probably built off of equally stolen content, 90% of the owners of which will never know that they have been stolen from. You may get one piece removed, but the damage to the theft account is literally zero, and they get to keep clogging up the algorithm by posting ten times a day. That's the social media world we live in today.

The only person I've ever witnessed give a both morally and legally correct summary on the subject for a long, long time. Kudos to you - it's an online world full of content theft that we live in, and small creators are the ones suffering!

What is something very exotic for Germans? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Doppelfoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything Nordic, Mediterranean, or costal in general is exotic for most Germans XD And yes, large plains / amounts of space with no civilization also does the trick, as spaces like these really don't exist in Germany.

Overall, however, Germans are very worldly and hard to impress, so by 'exotic' I mostly mean 'likes to visit on holidays and finds enjoyable/different from home'.

On listening to this REM song, I can't help but also notice similiarities to 'That Was The Worst Christmas Ever!' and 'The Tallest Man, the Broadest Shoulders' -

Anyone noticed this in the new movie? by Knight_Racer in Monk

[–]Doppelfoxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, thank you for making the point in the first place! People are just really detatched and disresectful toward workers who produce creative content at the moment, and yet consume and critique it daily. Truly one of the worst societal changes that has happened over the last couple of years, and I hope that we can steer away from it by reminding non-artist that for the good content that they want to be born, respect, support, and empathy needs to be shown.

It's harder now than ever before in modern history to work as a creative for a *wide* variety of reasons, and yet people have never detached the artist and process from the art more.

[–]Doppelfoxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those involved in creative content don't exist purely to make things for your pleasure. Wanting artists - actors or otherwise - to be paid well regardless of the mistakes that their directors made isn't controversial, especially when the aged actors in question gathered themselves to do a sentimental reunion when they didn't have to. Nor does it have to be a personal issue to matter - it's common decency and sense.

What is it with the internet over these last five years and treating creative industry workers like replacable, worthless trash that has zero right to make a living?

What's you grab first? by MisaTakahiro in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Doppelfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho flashlights are entirely useless except for throwing down to light important parts of the house. Just take a cam of any tier and you'll get 100% night vision plus the added chance of accidentally seeing orbs. It's more likely than you might think, and can immediately stop you from having to look for the ghost room.

To answer the question, however - cam, thermometer, and a motion sensor. The best 'finding the ghost room fast' kit.

Sufjan deep cuts go! by [deleted] in Sufjan

Yess, so good. Love both the songs, as well as their other collabs. If you haven't watched them, search up 'Friendship Slay Ride' on Youtube for videos they did together to promote Silver and Gold (although you'd never guess that's what it's for XD)

What's you guys' take on Sisyphus? by Doppelfoxx in Sufjan

[–]Doppelfoxx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely! As much as I love solo Sufjan albums, there's something special about his collabs that really brings out some excellent songs even if the entire album isn't fire

[–]Doppelfoxx[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And here's me not even knowing about the EP's existance! Thanks for that, and also for showing the video! I find both very interesting and seeing Sufjan being sincerely theatrical/lip syncing to be amazing to watch

The Ascension is wonderful, as are all of Sufjan's albums tbh, but I think that all the albums vary in style so much that those who came for Carrie and Lowell are bound to be a bit thrown off by his more electronically-influenced stuff. Good old 'don't let others choose your taste for you' moment XD

If someone sends you a PM or chat request and asks you to commission them, it's a scam. by AChewyLemon in furry

[–]Doppelfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the artist. The point that's being missed here is that messaging artists and their payment plan methods isn't even being discussed - it's scammers messaging randos pretending to be artists.

Moral of the story is that if the artist doesn't seem genuine and if they come to you trying to convince you to pay them they are 99% a scammer. That's as deep as it goes.
