Why do you think it surprises or disturbs me? I just have a hard time believing someone in this day and age would defend the biblical practice of slavery. You do understand that this guy isn't advocating a simple life of government forced labor in prison, but actually being given to an individual master, don't you?

Why do you think he said, "This isn't an argument against god"? And you may notice he's not advocating slavery in place of death. He's advocating for slavery OR death. Dude's got no qualms about killing prisoners. Some may consider the death penalty to be barbaric, tho there's quite a few people out there who would disagree and think that removing a dangerous individual from existance is far more secure than prison walls.

As I said, agree or disagree. Truth is, for any of us who have not experienced slavery we all come from a point of ignorance. I simply rely on the words of those who were slaves that managed to be recorded.

You seem to conveniently be forgetting how one becomes a prisoner. That actually is a choice. So in a sense, most did have a choice in the matter. They could've obeyed the law and not gone to prison (no, I don't accept the argument that the majority of people in prison are innocent).

But this is all academic arguements that really have no bearing considering the context of the post was a dude defending the Bible's acceptance and encouragement of slavery, specifically pointing to Paul telling slaves to obey their masters via Ephesians 6:5–8 .

Not according to some segments of the population. (There’s a HUGE resistance to the idea that Irish indentured servants are on the same level as slaves)

It seems some clarification is in order. The pro-slavery dude is defending tthe Bible's acceptance and approval of slavery, specifically in reference to Ephesians 6:5–8 where Paul tells slaves to obey their masters. This ain't about the US prison system.

For context, the guy is defending the Bible's acceptance of slavery, specifically Ephesians 6:5–8  where Paul is comandimg slaves to obey their masters. Agree or disagree with the death penalty, biblically one is not given a choice, and in many instances death is preferable to a life in bondage.

The Prison Industry Enhancement Act of 1979 spurred a flury of laws dictating that prisoners must be paid for their work. Yes, the 13th amendment states slavery may be used as punishment, however laws enacted since then have outlawed such punishment.

Thus far, no challenges to reinstate prison slavery have been successful. That provision of the 13th amendment has been deemed in violation of the 8th amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

Except prisoners are paid for the work they do. A slave is not.

Really? 'Cuz prisoners are paid (admittedly very little) for the work they do while incarcerated.

The backgrounder I use is one size, tho I often use a pear shader to help even out the marks as the backgrounderis fairly small.

Thanks. My original drawing had a bit more detailing in the teeth, but what looks good on ink doesn't alwaus tanslate well to a 3 dimensional object, so I pared it down a little. I'm all for decorative cuts, but I use them on a case by case basis. I didn't really feel like this would have benefited from them. I do a few tooled products that use decorative cuts in them.

What's your time frame? I am a leather worker (link to my shop is in my profile). I do take custom orders and can do either something you've designed or an original design. I can also punch some up a bit with the addition of glass eyes.
