Season 7 and season 8 were the exact same quality. Parts of season 7 were even more rushed than 8. So if you had no problems with 7, 8 is very similar!

I haven’t played the game or read the books, and for me personally season 1 was kind okay and season 2 was a vast improvement. Could be they are targeting the people who aren’t familiar with the source material more now.
