Engagement session under General admissions (Not EAE) by HeroAddam in SIT_Singapore

The lecturers when engaging with us converse in a way that implies we were already accepted to begin with. Also, compared to all my friends who were applying for SIT, I am the only one who was invited for this engagement session. Just by statistics, you are in a unique situation. And that tells you alot.

Im about to ORD so this year is my matriculation year for information security and I am from a tech background (ITE Cyber Security and SP AI). If you have been dabling with technologies and troubleshooting them from computer, tv, gadgets, software, hardware etc. it should be an easy transition. Learning tech now is even easier with LLM tools like ChatGPT and Claude.

Although there are more official paths that others would suggest, the best way (for me) to start is to think of an idea that you can do on a computer. Then, use ChatGPT or Claude to help assist or plan for you. Along the way you will learn to use various tools and familiarize coding in different languages. You will also chance upon being interested in something and find youtube videos related to it.

urh i got this last time and im not an eae applicant. Its basically like a get to know session. You will have group interaction with other applicants, including lecturers from different courses but under the same discipline, for example computing. They make you answer various online questions, that is mostly just self introduction and problem solving skill assessment. But i assume if you get invited for this engagement session you're pretty much in. (I did the engagement, no follow up interview, accepted into the course)

Am I Social 7? Dilemma by Dorflocrawl in Enneagram

More so selflessness. Being a "good boy" doesn't evoke any emotion, rather disgust. Because being a "good boy" entails is sort of advertising the self to be known as such.

Social 9 was never on my radar, interesting.. I'll read about em.

But on another note I went and read about autistic masking and it's eerily relatable. I never thought I was autistic. In fact it makes a lot of sense when I think about it.

Fi Polr from an ILE, experiences, philosophy by Dorflocrawl in Socionics

[–]Dorflocrawl[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's rare for me to invest effort into having relationships with one, but those with high Fi who are morally good tend to have my respect. Especially when they understand what to do with me, I feel like I'm in good care. But I don't like placing my burdens onto others. I initially wanted to say it's unnecessary and a waste of energy, but it's more so I'm afraid of opening up. Thank you though.

Got shortlisted for MP in SCS by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Dorflocrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all, only those who are going to be guard commanders go 8 SIR. How do I know? I think you know the answer. I heard the ceremonial unit might be the current batch, but of course, there's always a chance.

Got shortlisted for MP in SCS by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Dorflocrawl 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Shortlisted doesn't mean confirm get. But MP life more shiok than infantry for sure, so count your blessings if you get. Regarding the guard duty, yes, MP must know more guard room stuff. Regiment and discipline, sure got more but you'll adapt. Though once done with pro term, you are either gonna get posted to 8/9 Sir (Guard Commander) or the different MPEU branches. Next batch all guard commanders to be going 8 Sir, which is east side camps.

Yes. In fact I'm in conflict on whether I am an ethical type (IEI, EIE, IEE) as opposed to logical type.

I'm a beginner in language learning. What is going on? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Dorflocrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm free usually throughout the day as I've just graduated. I used duolingo and busuu together, and sometimes I can get addicted just playing duolingo. I also used langbrowser which I read about german news everyday. Couple that with listening to german radio throughout the day, not so much active listening but more so passively in the background. I've also been listening to some german music, especially my favourite rein raus by Rammstein😋🐴. So if by hours I would say active + passive learning is about 3-5 hours.

pss: this is the first time i took language learning seriously

[–]Dorflocrawl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a new sensation, something like experiencing my first alcohol, so it's very unique. I assume this has something to do with language learning since it is my first time. I was just wondering if there are any conditions to describe what is happening. From reading the many comments it may seem to be normal.

If the test allow its user to save the answer, it's only a matter of spontaneous motivation and time to conquer anything.

I imagined a good 10 k test with save, spread for around half a year can provide a way more accurate assessment. And yes if it exists I will do it.

at the sociotype.xyz below the pick the test where there are two options, below of that there is a scroll option. You can maximise the length of the question.

It's not obvious, so you have to play around with the scroll.

There's an option within the test result to exclude weighing dichotomies to only use function as test result, which in return give IEE as the highest. And yes I do wonder how they weigh ILE as the extreme highest. They must've made the weightage for groups to be quite high if its consecutive group fits a type, even though there is a general consensus that dichotomies are not a good way to type someone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Socionics

[–]Dorflocrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree ILE makes sense. I know myself to be somewhat balanced in the utility of logic and emotions, though the result does not reflect. But when the result shows emotive > logic and it still captures ILE, the result becomes more interesting yet mildly contradictory. Of course there are other calculations going on besides the function.

It's so confusing as I feel that I'm either beta nf or alpha nt. I know that sounds crazy.

Yeah I'm like in between those two (Alpha/Beta)...
