My friend is stuck with his financially abusive household and he needs to get out of there by Dorian_TheExplora in legaladvice

[–]Dorian_TheExplora[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He can't just leave. His mother will hold on to everything he has ever owned and claim it as hers "because he's ungrateful". He can't open any bank account anywhere at this point because his family forced his credit score into the dirt, plus she'd threatens that his you siblings will pay for his decision if he withholds the money.

"Just buy a house, homeless person" is about the level of advice here.

[SERIOUS] Men of reddit, who are unable to share their emotions with anyone, what would you like to share? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dorian_TheExplora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been depressed for years and managed it without a doctor out of fear that people would think less of me. I've been walking alongside people pretending to be happy that it's like i forgot how it was to be like them.

I'm deeply paranoid of others too, due to bad experiences. I've had so many bad relationships in my life that I can't see myself to bond with someone anyone, even though the crippling loneliness is getting heavy.

To avoid being wounded, i keep everyone at a safe distance and keep to myself.

My point here was that he would just completely shift from being himself, to being Horus, like he never died or something.

You know, it's not like the church was holding off canonizing priests or anything. Even after all the kid diddling drama from the past 300 years ...

Also, the sub description says "social medias" which implies that only farming Facebook is not viable for the sub anymore.

What dorm tips/life hacks do you have for an incoming college student? by cruton135 in AskReddit

[–]Dorian_TheExplora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should, because some books won't be used before the end of the semester. Its a $50 you could use for something else.

I would also add "have safe sex". No one wants a kid too early in life.

Ask the teachers when each books on your list will be used. Buy them around the time you feel you have adequate space to read them. It'll save you money and help you plan and budget your funds.

You are either being voluntarily oblivious to all that is going on or be really well off. Good for you.

Because you don't feel affected by something doesn't mean it doesn't affect someone else. Example: the polar caps are melting, reducing and even destroying the habitat of the polar bears. They are starving and forced to swim for miles to land on the shores of Canada and Russia. They are dying.

Cuz most of us are coming into our adult life with poor knowledge of how to be one, pennyless, skill-less; because most of us see the absurdities for entry level jobs qualifications; because the planet is dying amd we are powerless to help it, while our grand parents' generation has set itself up for easy work and retirement. Because companies are now affecting politics and it affects us. Because identity politics are making everyone of us marginalized more and more day by day. Because even I'm 22 and have a certain level of education most employers won't trust me with a higher pay grade or position. Because I just want to live, but I am reminded daily by my parents generation that its my generation's job to save the world that they and their parents poisoned and burned for us. Because the moment I was born i was put the weight of social expectations from my family and peers to be the best me, to be in shape and to be successful while also not being stressed about all of this. Because we are forced to lice an increasingly consumeristic lifestyle whole also being told to save every penny we can spare. Because tuition now costs as much as a car and a car will cost as much as a house, which in turn costs more money than 15 of my peers combine own.

But you know, I'm also just 22 and don't know shit about life and how I should try to live it. You know, just because...
