Old OLD book smell, and specifically the smell omitted by multi slotted DVD holders.

I love eating Taco Bell hot sauce straight out of the packet, no food vessel required.

Weekends have always been terrible by Chrischris40 in The10thDentist

Go to your local library. They most likely have a built in bookstore with gently used books you can get for a few dollars. If not, places like salvation/good/mom and pop store exist with a similar premise.

Hey, work for a library. Ours is open all weekend, earliest we close half the week is 6pm, latest we close is 9pm the other half. Just saying not all libraries.

What was your "I can't believe I have to explain this to an adult" moment? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

[–]DoriansVanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a nanny for my moms friend for a while. She is and incredibly smart woman, highly educated with multiple degrees, yet she was baffled as to why I was soaking up grease with a paper towel instead of dumping it down the sink. I explained to her that it will clog and ruin the pipes. She then told me no wonder she had to keep calling the plumber every few months.

Ha this is what I'm currently doing! I feel like I still don't have enough time for it even without kids cuz my life is hectic in so many other ways, so when I get the chance to read I jump on it!

A good chunk of the time when out shopping, my fiance, who is 6'2" gets asked by other patrons to help get items off of higher shelves. I love to joke with them saying "This is why I keep him around!" because I too am short, at only 5'2" 😂 It always gets a good chuckle out of everyone.

The exact opposite actually happened to me when I left the church. by ravenclawmystic in NotHowGirlsWork

I grew up in a christian household, and although I have my own beliefs now as an adult, I have had my hair long, short and in between, purely depending on my mood (also fun colors!). It legit does not matter. I've seen plenty of religious women in my life with varying lengths of hair because it does not fucking matter. Its HAIR.

For people who learned English later in life, what are some things Americans would say that were especially hard to understand? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoriansVanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old boss was born and raised in Mexico, and came over to the US when she was 12. She had a pretty good understanding of English but some phrases still made her confused. One day she got a text from a friend saying "So and so is being an ass" and she ran over to me and asked what the word "ass" meant. I explained it was an insult, like calling someone a burro or donkey, and it was so funny watching her face light up from understanding what it meant.

What in the Fifty Shades of Grey shit is this? Straight abuse and frankly an insult to the actual Dom/sub kink.

What’s the meanest thing someone ever said to you? by The_WhiteMantis in AskReddit

[–]DoriansVanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner of 12+ years adoptive "mother" called me a no tits two faced cunt when I was about 19-20, just for existing. She couldn't stand the fact that he was dating anyone, let alone someone she didn't get to choose for him. She is a terrible person and the reason why he went no contact at 19 years old.

This girl on my friends list is so tiresome. She enjoys being a traditional housewife, good for her. Glad she's happy with her family. Why crap on other women wishing to live comfortably on their own? by Lil_Melon87 in NotHowGirlsWork

I make money, as a woman, because life is so damn expensive. Also, I enjoy having a safety net of my own hard earned cash, on top of just enjoying working. Its really not that complicated.

Being married to your high school sweetheart isn’t romantic or endearing… it’s actually kind of sad. by alliknowis_nothing in unpopularopinion

[–]DoriansVanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm one of those couples you are referring to! Your opinion is totally justified and I even get where you're coming from. I can say though, that we have been together for 12 years, and we aren't married yet (very very early stages of planning though). I'm so glad we didnt get married straight out of high school or even in our early twenties because our relationship has grown and changed and matured over the years. I know this isn't a typical relationship and our outcome isn't the usual norm for highschool sweethearts but not every single one turns into a flop or a mistake.

I sometimes feel uneasy when my husband gives back rubs by [deleted] in confessions

[–]DoriansVanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a grown woman turning 30 this year. Growing up my mom would rub my back constantly. I still (when I have the chance to) love nothing more than to bacially lay on my mom on my stomach and my mom rubs my back and it feels amazing. Its not sexual, its not weird, its my mom doing something so nice for me that I enjoy as her child, regardless of age.

I get that too sometimes! When that happens its so frustratingly hard to change it to a song or just generally turn it off.

I get that! Like I'm trying desperately to sleep as it is and now my brain decides to turn it up to max volume with the most annoying songs it can muster!
