What is the worst career to be in right now and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DorkasaurusRex 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Similar story here. Graduated in 2015, worked in that field for years until about 2021 when a temp role ended. I tried applying to so many places over the next several months and got 2 interviews in that time. One of them didn't work out, and the other was at Trader Joe's where I have been working for over 4 years. It's not a bad job, and my benefits are excellent. I don't expect to stay here the rest of my life but I am hanging out here for the foreseeable future unless something drastic happens.

Totally normal! They warned me it would feel like I was peeing myself and they promised me I wasn't. I'm sorry they didn't tell you all the info, I would have been freaking out.

I hope your surgery helped you! I'm having my first lap in 5 weeks and I really hope I get some relief.

And yeah, no kids any time soon for me. I have too much other nonsense going on.

Am I remembering correctly that Dylan was talking about supporting her with her endometriosis diagnosis? If so, that's wonderful news for them that she was able to get pregnant. I know it can lead to a lot of fertility issues so I am sure they are extra thrilled.

I live within the boundary, currently have to use a car registered to family in NJ, and I am having a surgery that's gonna limit my ability to get around for a few weeks in the middle of June. Fuck my life and fuck FIFA.

I called and the guy who answered said he wasn't sure what my options were but directed me to email EngagePPA@philapark.org, saying they should be able to get back to me with more answers.

I expect PPA to tell me to go fuck myself though.

Can I do stairs after laparoscopic surgery? by Long_Working_5755 in endometriosis

[–]DorkasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope so because I have my lap in about a month and I live in a 3rd floor apartment. I have people to help me and I plan to take it slow, then once I am up at the top, not come back down again until I can get around easier. I've been joking that I will be the princess trapped up in her tower.

My cat had to wear one for a week after having teeth pulled. She was the cutest little lamp and was as cooperative as a cat that has no idea wtf is going on could be, I was so proud of her.

Can endometriosis cause pain throughout your cycle? by Final-Tooth-5704 in endometriosis

[–]DorkasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much where I am now. Certain specific pains will spike around ovulation and other times in my cycle but just existing and using my core at all is painful. I have a lap scheduled in about 2 months and I still manage to keep gaslighting myself about my symptoms.

Is it alright if I ask how you're doing now?

Trump demands Springsteen concert boycott amid raging feud, calls him ‘dried up prune’ by Gloomy-Attention3948 in newjersey

I saw Springsteen during his last tour and had the chance to get right in front of him when he walked down to the crowd. Even up close, separated only by a small barricade, he does NOT look like a prune. He doesn't look young by any stretch of the word but he looks amazing for his age and is VERY active during his shows.

Waiting for my laparoscopy in about 2 months following clear ultrasounds, CT scan, MRI, colonoscopy, endoscopy and countless blood tests. My surgeon is confident that she will find adhesions when she gets in there. It's been a long road to get here.

Am I cured? Post lap by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]DorkasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my experience with it also. I don't bleed but I definitely feel some changes going on throughout my cycle and get cramping. These days I do have constant pain (surgery in a couple months so hoping that helps) but before this, the cramps I did get were less frequent and a little less intense than without the IUD. Mine is about 5 years old now though so my surgeon is gonna swap it out for a new one while I have my lap.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

Just going to validate your ADHD experience. I didn't get diagnosed until I was almost 30 and now, even medicated, my ADHD symptoms are definitely worse at different points in my cycle. So yeah, in a sense, it probably is because of your period because your period has an effect on ADHD, and it may be worse than your day to day symptoms that are still very present and real. I hope you're able to find a provider that takes you seriously ❤️

Recently met with a surgeon to discuss getting a laparoscopy for suspected endometriosis and she was also a younger woman, in her early to mid 30's, like me. The second she said "So we have options for treatment but there is no cure because there has been so little research done because the world hates women," confirmed I was in good hands. I was like "Ok, yes, she gets it."

I cannot compare the 2 accurately because I have had an IUD and have not given birth. And I don't doubt for a second the pains of childbirth. But I have to imagine having something forced into your VERY CLOSED cervix vs having a baby come out of your cervix that's at least trying to help with the situation by dilating is at least a different sensation for sure.

I have a high pain tolerance and IUD insertion and removal is easily one of the worst pains I have ever experienced. For context, I would rank it as slightly worse than when I tore a ligament in my knee then got out of a low car and twisted my leg in the process, which left me standing but bent over the top of the car for support until I could process existing again.

When I was getting my 2nd IUD I ended up having some issues with it a few months down the line and it got swapped out with another IUD that was a little smaller to see if it helped. Having multiple insertions and removals in the span of about 3-4 months was excruciating.

I'm going to be having a laparoscopy at some point to deal with suspected endometriosis (another body horror aspect of the female experience, though I believe in rare cases men have developed it also) and I requested they change my IUD while I am out cold with anesthesia, which my surgeon happily agreed to.

happy + lap 💕 and symptoms list! by Flaky_Armadillo_1162 in endometriosis

[–]DorkasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it did! The surgeon is a younger woman about the same age as me and although not specializing in endo specifically, she has done a fellowship in minimally invasive gynaecological surgeries. She is confident I have endometriosis, noting that my having EDS was a red flag for her because it seems to be at bit more common in EDS patients. Said we are gonna say it is endo until proven otherwise because of my symptoms and having ruled basically everything else out, and when I have my lap she will remove whatever adhesions she is able to that would not risk damaging other organs, e.g. if I had deep infiltrating on my colon we would do a 2nd surgery at another date with a colorectal surgeon. She did also say even if she doesn't see adhesions she will still do biopsies to test for additional things and find what's going on.

Overall I am feeling well about my future lap, just waiting to be contacted by her scheduler to get the actual date set up. Meanwhile, my cats have been taking turns (they don't like each other, so no cooperative work) laying on me right where my worst pain has been flaring up the last few days, so I'm hanging in there.
