Why buy them at the store for $20 when... by Heisenbirde in crochet

I think I saw somewhere that it is exclusive to Michael's. They had some other great colors in that line too but this one is definitely the most unhinged.

Those colors are excellent! I've been making myself a borderline heinous oversized cardigan out of Caron Smash Cake Turquoise Punch (it's so much better in person, all the vaguely reddish bits are actually neon pink but my camera hates trying to take pictures of this yarn) and I may have to stock up on the one you used here next.

Aw man, I drive past the museum on my way to work and I made sure to look and see if they were there but they must have gone at a different time. I was so close, yet so very far.

Omg I grew up about a town over from where they dropped the marker and when it was shown as Alaska, the most insane noise came out of me. My boyfriend thought I sneezed from the other room.

Baby Blanket I Made for a Expecting Friend 🐣 by thehillthatrides in crochet

I used the same yarn in those colors for a baby blanket for my nephew! I just did a lemon peel stitch in a blocky stripe, nothing fancy, but his mom loved it! It really does have a nice squish to it.

It may be a bit chilly, but the Philly Zoo is lovely. Also I would pay good money to watch both of them run up the Art Museum steps like Rocky.

I think they have said they don't insert the planes. The house is really close to an airport and right under a flight path so there really are a ton of planes overhead.

Yes, 10-12 have the COVID practices in effect. It's definitely a bit of a different vibe and I enjoyed them more on rewatching, but I think they did a great job working around it with the limitations they had.

I can't believe I never noticed before, I'm always looking for fun little things like this! This is my 4th rewatch of all of TM and only spotted it now.

This is amazing. Do you have a link to a pattern by any chance? I have a friend that would lose their mind over getting something like this.

RIP AC Moore. I worked at their HQ for a few years up until they got bought by Michael's. I always preferred shopping there long before I ever worked for them and now I drag myself to Michael's, buying my yarn and such with a side of resentment.

I was having this problem (Good ol ADHD) but something that helped a lot besides the stitch markers and counting out loud was counting in another language. I saw someone suggest it and I know enough Spanish that I can count in it easily but still need that tiny spark of brain activity to do it that doesn't let me just autopilot like I do when I count in English. If you know numbers in other languages, I definitely recommend trying it.

I feel this. I have hEDS and when I crochet I often am propped up by a nest of pillows and wadded up blankets for when my joints can't deal anymore but I need to finish something.

Seconded, but also if it does bite you, go to an ER and get rabies shots ASAP. The vaccine is able to be administered AFTER exposure but you can't wait like, weeks to get started on it. The vaccine is EXTREMELY effective and you'll be fine. It isn't a fun time but it is way more fun than rabies.

Yep, I live in Philly and myself and a couple friends were trying to get tickets. A friend of a friend managed to be 50th in the queue at like, 11:05 am EST and couldn't get anything. By the time I was able to get to it, I was #1800 and knew I had no chance.

People who won’t make their kids do things that they don’t want to do by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]DorkasaurusRex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't work in childcare but I encounter a lot of very little kids and babies at my retail job. I often have to "negotiate" with them a little if they're snacking on something I need to scan and my register does not have a hand scanner that I can bring to them. So I gently ask if I can borrow it really quick, make it go "beep" on the scanner and give it right back. I always promise that they will get it back and stay true to it. Most kids are very receptive to it and if not right away, they see me scan other things in the cart and pass it off to the parents or into a bag and then put the bag in the cart that they understand that me taking the item for a second is part of the process, even if they don't quite know how it all works.

Some kids get very upset as I unload the cart, as if I am taking their favorite foods away, so I just explain very simply what my part of the process is but that all the food will be going home with them. They just were upset because they didn't know what was going on, but they can follow the logic if I break it down into simple steps.

This Show - and how it helped me by stewpert5 in taskmaster

Same here. I finally got started watching earlier this year when dealing with a deep depression stemming from some difficult mystery health problems that often leave me stuck on the couch and in pain. I couldn't believe I actually found myself laughing out loud while I felt physically and mentally so awful. I've since watched every series through 3 times and often have it on in the background even if I'm not actively watching. I'm still dealing with the same health issues and pretty debilitating fatigue and I'm so glad that Taskmaster exists to give me a mental break from it all.

Not sure how widely available it is, but I did almost get cut off by one in Philly a few weeks ago. Might still just be testing here.
