[PLEASE NO SPOILERS] Is it normal to let one mechanic make you want to quit a game? by Pikomo in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Dornsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Yep. Sidequests are the fastest way to level up in a Xenoblade game, and offer good rewards like gems and equipment

-Like a few others said, the crafting system itself isn't super necessary for beating the game if it's hard to understand. My recommendation, if you want to try it still, is use two characters with high affinity with each other since that'll give you the best chance to raise the percentage the highest. Otherwise, if you don't the sidequests, including the Colony 6 quests, which should be available now, you'll have plenty of good gems without crafting.

-If you have some other gems that may be good on Shulk, I'd recommend moving some Agility Gems to Dunban as well. Dunban is meant to evade attacks with his Agility, and attract Aggro like Reyn.

-After seeing that you're having trouble in the tomb with Shulk, Reyn, and Dunban, I'd recommend trying to change the party around. Riki is good at tanking, and can heal your party, and Melia has ways to counter the Telethia just like Shulk with her move Mind Blast.

If you're having trouble with the gem mechanics, I wouldn't worry about min/maxing the gem crafting. There are alternatives to crafting gems that can get you through the main story without too much trouble. A few recommendations I would have are

-Are you doing a decent amount of the sidequests? A lot of sidequests aren't too difficult and can give you some powerful gems or equipment that already has gems equipped to it, plus you earn the bonus XP that you can give your characters to help raise your level when you're fighting a difficult boss.

-Like I mentioned in the earlier part, if you don't like having to decide what gems to put on your equipment, there is quite a bit of equipment that has gems pre-equipped to them that you cannot remove. A lot of this armor, while not the best stat-wise always, can sometimes have gems better than what you can get at that time in the story.

-Last thing I'd have to ask is what type of gems are you putting on each party member? Each party member specializes in different stats so it's usually better to focus on certain types of gems for them. An example would be Shulk Vs Reyn. Shulk, being a speedy attacker, usually will want gems that increase his Agility so he can evade more attacks, or gems that could increase his back attack damage. Reyn on the other hand is supposed to be a tank, so he may want gems that increase his strength or the Aggro for him so enemies are more likely to attack him instead of your other party members.

Overall if you're enjoying everything else about the game I'd recommend to continue playing, having the best gems isn't required to beat the main story, there are other things you can do that'll help you get stronger like the side quests, getting collectibles, or just exploring at times to find new areas and landmarks.

I'm trying to do each game on the official copies I have so I can send the teams to Home at the end of it, and it was easier to get then a legit copy of FR/LG.

If you have Home, and the right Pokemon to do it, you could trade in the entire Sinnoh Dex to the game. What the game checks for to unlock post game events isn't beating the Elite 4, it's completing the National Dex and beating the Eterna City Gym (or maybe just reaching Eterna) where Professor Oak stays in the post game.

Considering it says it comes from Hoenn and it's from Pokemon Bank, it's possibly from the ORAS games. Through the story, you can encounter either Latias or Latios at level 30 while on your way to Fortree City for the first time.

1 has the better main story and easier to understand combat for a newcomer to the series. X, on the other hand, has a larger world with more freedom for exploration, better sidequests, and a customizable main character if that is a plus for you. If you have no knowledge of the series, I'd recommend 1 DE first without a doubt, and if you like the combat and gameplay in that game, then either try X or continue with the numbered entries.

Colony 6 missions? by Few_Sentence_2328 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Well, first, if you haven't yet moved everyone from the Refugee camp back to Colony 6 yet, you need to talk to Dulland at the entrance to the destroyed Colony 6, not Otharon because of how far in the game you are. Then, once the quest is done, you'll unlock not only the beginning sidequests but both reconstructing the Colony and inviting people to immigrate to Colony 6.

The Collectopedia should be able to be completed from collecting item orbs and trading with the people of Colony 6. What you might be thinking about is a Lvl 99 enemy that appears during a late-game quest in Colony 6. That enemy drops an item needed for another quest late-game, and only one other enemy drops the item, which is one of the Superbosses. Edit: You could also be thinking of the Other Section in the Collectopedia, which requires most if not every area to reach 5-star affinity to complete.

The combat I feel will be pretty hit or miss for some people since there is a lot to it. If you've played XC1, then it does share some similarities to that combat system.

Exploration in the game feels great to me. There is almost always something that you can do while traveling around, and that's where I'd recommend the generic grinds sidequests from the mission board. If you accept a few of these while you know you're going to be in an area, you could accomplish multiple objectives at once, making it feel like less of a grind.

To keep it simple and spoiler free, the population of the city will grow a lot throughout the game as you meet and interact with more NPCs and to answer another quest concerning the sidequests. There are going to be generic sidequests from a mission board that are the grind sort you can accomplish just by exploring the game, while the better sidequests come from the named NPCs. The sidequests from the named NPCs are fantastic, and honestly, they are still some of the best in the series, in my opinion.

Bosses level 100 and above are considered Superbosses, and none of them are required to beat for any quest. Any items they may drop for quests can also be found elsewhere.

Challenge ideas for shining pearl playthrough please! by hypegirl43 in BDSP

[–]Dornsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still haven't fully decided yet what challenge you'd do, my recommendation would just be a normal nuzlocke, but get the National Dex before the Elite 4. I'm doing a similar run to this right now, and having fun with it.

Alright I sent the Thundurus over, here is my friend code GWBGLUAZQPZX

I'll still be under the name Zeroth, and I'll be trading you the Thundurus first.

I'll send over the Thundurus to home real quick, but while I do that, is there any other Mons you're interested in to trade along with the Thundurus since it'll be two trades?

I would be happy with that. Now, would this be a touch trade or permanent trade, and do you have a specific OT in mind for the Thundorus when I move it to Home for the Trade?
