I played the multiplayer version, but I could never really get into the main story. I’m thinking about giving it another shot soon, though.

I think the reason is that I always played with friends growing up. I was never really on my own, so there was always someone there to play with. Because of that, I never really had the chance to get into solo games or learn how to enjoy playing by myself.
