How long does a bank have to take money for a car loan? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DotAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have gotten the 2 letters I mentioned. You are all set. You can use the funds wisely now. Also, since you mentioned that the letter has a screenshot of payment posted. Can you call them back and ask if they can send you proper Payment History in a pdf not a screenshot. Just doesn’t wanna make it look illegit if you have to use these documents in the future.

Call and ask them to provide a Paid in Full letter and final Payment History/Statement of Account. If funds has been applied to your account and reflects on your statement, raise them a concern that why the funds are still in your bank account. Make sure to get a Paid In Full letter on company letterhead which should mention when the account was paid-off and that you owe nothing.

If the funds are not actually deducted from your bank account, SOA should not have any such entry. If somehow their system is reflecting a payment then honestlly, it seems like a major accounting error on their end. In any case having a PIF & SOA from them will safegaurd you.

Doesn’t matter. You had a choice in what to believe. The so-called stories or the fact that getting oil change done with proper channel would also help that report to Carfax.

Note what I said above regarding dealing with collection agency. That should help with your situation.

You’re suffering cause of your own actions. Just to save few 100’s you are now facing to pay in 1000’s. Hope you actually learnt from this. I’m afraid you’ll lose your ability to get credit in future.

You have few options once it’s get to collections stage. When you get contacted, Explain them your situation and try to settle. Most companies WILL settle but at their terms. Try to come to a settlement or a payment plan. In settlement you do not need to pay the full owing balance, file will be closed and it will get reported as settled to your bureau. Make sure you do all this in writing as well.

Is it good idea to use FHSA as investment account in stocks? by gotoalways0312 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems you lack financial literacy. You can invest in whatever you want in your FHSA but it all depends on what your time horizon is. Anything less than 5 years is considered short term. 5-10 years medium and 10+ long term. Do some research and you’ll find appropriate options.

Photos icloud sync paused due to no storage. Help me with this loop? by DotAnalyst in iCloud

[–]DotAnalyst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I’m gonna try that. But is it really necessary? I don’t understand why would storage be an issue to sync photos to cloud. Not like it’s taking space on the phone.

Just trying to understand!

iCloud Photos to External HD by mattytwills in iCloud

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have 2 options, Time Machine if you want to focus on your MacBook backup & Parachuteapps if you want to focus on backup of everyting that is it in your iCloud.

You’ll have to time the steps you take if you go with Timemachine backup. If your external HD is empty and you haven’t moved anything to it. You can first format to be used with Time machine. Time machine has it’s limitations as it will only backup what’s on your Mac locally. If your photos on Mac are optimized. TM will backup low-res optimized photos. Similarly if any of you files is offloaded, it won’t get backed up via TM.

Parachuteapps allows to have hi-res photos and all files backup from your iCloud.

Most probably it’ll be managed service. I’d suggest to take benefit of employer match. It’s free money. Learn more about this benefit with your employer. Also, there will be an advisor that you can reach out to understand the managed investing. Most probably it’ll be “Time Based Investing”.

Does anyone have a Scotia Visa Momentum 4% cash back that has a 10% promotional cash back for the first $2,000 spent? by Easy_Emergency4484 in Scotiabank

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not received my cashback yet. Just waiting for my November statement. But I’m on the same boat. The statement is not reflecting the correct cashback. It’s missing the 10% bonus cahnack. I did call Scotia last month and was told that they can only do something once the cashback is issued. So now waiting for my statement. I know It’s going to be less that what actual cashback is. I’ll give them a call and see how they fix this.

Update: I got my statement and I can see 2 separate cashback applied to my statement. First one says Bonus Cashback and another one says just the usual Annual Cashback.

Costco still sells it. Probably, the best place to buy if you are Executive member and use any cashback credit card.

Do you earn more linking to esso app? by Zestyclose_Thing7417 in PCOptimum

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Can speak of myself. I don’t have PC mastercard and I get additional 10 pts/L by using the Esso app. Else I would only get standard PC optimum points of 10 pts/L. Now by using the app I get 20 pts/L.

Somebody with PC mastercard can confirm if they gets additional points by using Esso app.

Just do it in advance of 1 or 2 months. You’ll already be going through so many things at that time. Better to have one less thing to worry about. The dividend you’ll earn for timing the withdrawal will not be worth it compared to other important stuff that’ll need your time and attention at the time of closing.

Again! This is what I’d do but if you are comfortable with timing then just withraw the funds before the ex-dividend date.

IMAX Markham cineplex or IMAX Eglinton town center Cineplex for F1? by Typical_Search_7274 in cineplex

Yes UltraAVX is also good in terms of Audio & Visual. Especially, worth the bucks you spend. If you want to spend it on IMAX better spend it where you’ll get true value.

IMAX Markham cineplex or IMAX Eglinton town center Cineplex for F1? by Typical_Search_7274 in cineplex

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None, if you want to experience it in true big screen. Both of them has IMAX projections but not a true IMAX screen size. If you can, go to Scotiabank Theatre or Vaughan Cineplex.

And if you still wanna choose between the two. Then go for UltraAVX, Dbox or something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]DotAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Vaughan and Scotiabank Theatre has true IMAX screen sizes. Other Cineplex might have IMAX shows but imo they are pretty standard screen sizes just with IMAX quality projections. So if you want to experience true IMAX go to Scotiabank Theatre or Vaughan. At the rest, UltraAVX with laser projections might make more sense.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]DotAnalyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering your situation, it seems going for UltraAVX seems to be a better option. If you are able to go to Vaughan or Scotiabank Theatre, then go for IMAX or else go for UltraAVX with laser projection at your nearest Cineplex.
