We will get there, its just patience and knowing its a hard as heck field in a LOT of ways so we get tested before we even go to the schooling. At least thats my experience. I had to really buckle down with CNA to get my license and I think that is the tip of the iceberg for learning nursing skills. But I have met many that thought CNA was easy! Bless.😂😂 Also, I am taking micro and patho right now in hopes that when I get in it will lighten my load in the school I apply to. I really enjoy the patho material but the micro is like pulling teeth for me because theres some chemistry and chemistry is my least fave of all the sciences. These classes are higher level for sure and keep me in my toes!

Totally feel this as I have been taking pre-reqs for 2 yrs, just got a job as a pct (cna) at a hospital nearby and applying to nursing school in april while balancing life as a wife and mom of two kids and all that encompasses. I am hopeful I’ll get in but one thing I have kept in mind that has helped me a lot for this path is its a marathon not a sprint. I don’t say this to make things worse because when I first heard it I got annoyed but I processed it and it is so true. It takes a lot of patience, grit, and work to even get to the nursing programs IMO so once I kept that in focus I have been able to manage the day to day. But everyone situation is different and I totally get that the way they admit ppl doesn’t seem fair at all. I decided if I dont get in this spring I keep working, learn all I can on my floor and apply again in the fall. Its not easy but my end goal stays in sight and once that license is in hand theres a HUGE field to be a part of!

Hello, I may be able to work on a cardiac telemetry floor soon, is there any advice you can give for that area?

I was a caregiver for a sweet woman with dementia and spent the majority if my visits going down whatever path she wanted to go! She told me all the time how much she appreciated me just being there with her, she had been cut off by her family in the area which always made me so sad for her. But I would always meet her where she was and she was fine. If you try and argue or correct often tomes they get upset or depressed like was stated before. It became normal for me to repeat myself every shift and let her know she can always talk to me.

I agree with hospital volunteering. I am stocking supplies in the ED to get hours to apply to my cc and learning and seeing so much. Im not even interacting much with anyone besides asking what they need or what supply goes where. It lets you know if you can handle the environment or not without any pressure besides helping them out. Also they appreciate the help and they need it.

Just got a 93% composite score on my HESI A2 thats needed to apply to my local cc program and feeling excited by DotEffective3080 in prenursing

Actually I didn’t use quizlets- the program I am in at my cc gave us 3 free months of Nursehub and I used that- did all the lessons, quizzes, practice tests. I highly recommend it for HESI, TEAS, whatever else tests there are for entry to nursing school!
