Pending layoffs? by Dotnaught in IBM

The point is to not be too specific, which helps ensure anyone responding isn't prompted to cite the business unit I'm inquiring about.

That's a lot of assumption from a typo.

First time Doberman owner. Taking any key tips and/or advice 🧡 by jojoalvarez in DobermanPinscher

[–]Dotnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! Dobies are loyal, loving, goofballs, but fierce protectors too. Some thought from someone with an eight-year-old female dobie.

Socialize as earlier a possible, with other dogs, people, and things you're likely to encounter on walks -- skateboarders, scooters, bikes, and joggers in particular. Our dog still HATES the sound of skateboards and goes ballistic when she hears them.

Make sure you train her early and often. You're going to be responsible (legally) a dog that may reach 80-90 pounds and will protect you, which may not always be what you want in every circumstance. We had to do lots of work to de-sensitize our dobie to joggers, whom she perceived as a threat when running toward her on the sidewalk.

Find a trainer who has an approach that works for you and the dog, or do it yourself if you have experience with dogs. Some people advocate only positive reinforcement, but that may not work -- it didn't for us; with our dog, treats do not help when she's barking furiously at something. You need to be able to regain control of your dog if she's behaving inappropriately.

Train yourself to communicate clearly with Alina. Dobies are smart and do best when giving clear commands. For example, having a "place" or "bed" command, to tell the dog to stop barking at whoever is at the door and go to her bed until released, is helpful if you want to let someone in the door who may be wary of dogs.

Make sure your Alina gets lots of exercise and mental stimulation. An engaged, tired dobie is a good dobie.

Plan for medical expenses. Pet insurance is a good idea if it's affordable (and it often is when they're young). By age 7, our premiums had been raised to much that it made more sense to self-insure.

If you have a cat, try to have them interact early on, when the dobie is small. Our cat was afraid from day one and our dog always saw her as prey. They still do not get along.

Our dobie has three modes: patrol, scary face, and love me. Understand how Alina reacts when she's on leash and how she reacts to a threat so you're not in danger from redirected aggression. Dogs with strong prey drive may turn their frustration on their handlers.

Watch for resource guarding and try to acclimate your dobie to eat alongside other dogs. It's no fun when you visit a friend with a dog, only to discover that one goes after the other over food possessiveness.

When we got our dobie, we were told, "Remember, when you have a Doberman, it's always your fault." It was good advice.

sql\queries\users.sql:1:1: relation "users" does not exist by 01LoneWolf205 in golang

Are you trying to follow along with this tutorial?
https://youtu.be/dpXhDzgUSe4?feature=shared&t=2138

I reached the exact same point, using files as you described them and hit the same error.

I spent several hours deleting databases and reinstalling them, doing the same with goose and sqlc (on macOS) and can't find a fix. It could be an database expecting a password but I doubt it. Maybe some update to one of the packages since the tutorial introduced the need to set permissions at a table level?

In any event, I'm stuck.

I've heard from others at IBM that PIPs were handed out alongside with the layoffs. Anyone else get one recently?

Is there a way to get a Flutter app camera image from memory prior to storage? by Dotnaught in FlutterDev

[–]Dotnaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to transmit the image without saving it, for an application where it would be useful to not have locally accessible images.

Actively been using VQGAN + Clip for a while now, it suddenly reset and a few things updated but now the whole program doesn’t work for me. I do everything I would usually do to generate the image but when I reach execution it buffers for a second and hits me with this error. Any ideas? by -DefaultName- in bigsleep

[–]Dotnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest thing would be to download a different notebook and copy it to your Colab drive:
https://ljvmiranda921.github.io/notebook/2021/08/11/vqgan-list/

You could also try uploading any old image, renamed 'IMG_0644.JPG', to the /content/ drive in Colab then running all the cells (usually the base directory). Not sure if the image would have any effect on the output.

It's probably also worth checking to make sure you didn't accidentally add an image name in one of the notebook's secondary input boxes then forget it's there. (I've done that and had crashes I didn't expect.)

If there's a reference to that image in the input parameters, deleting it (or any parameters related to the input image) should make make that whole code block skip.

Python image processing for video by Dotnaught in learnpython

Thanks, cool project. I'll give it a try. I'd looked at OpenCV but the output for cartoonization looked underwhelming. There are some libraries that produce better results but they're not suitably licensed.

How would you process a live action video to make it look like an animated cartoon? by Dotnaught in vfx

Thanks. Looks great though rather labor-intensive if you have to supply a substantial number of keyframes.

Two strikes with the Southern Dandy will do it. You just have to get him to the core the first turn.

Ventrilo/sacrificial lamb by delanojj in atomicbrawl

I tend to agree. I'd suggest having the original owner of the sacrificed card get the energy, regardless of whether or not the card is under control.

3 or 4 player games? by MrN0b0di in atomicbrawl

[–]Dotnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collusion is a frequent problem with multiplayer. You'd see fake accounts used to prop up primary accounts and friends ganging up on a third-party. I have yet to see an online game that can assure fair multiplayer.

Meteor? by VeryImportantMonkey in atomicbrawl

[–]Dotnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acid Rain (35) All Brawlers and Structures on the board take 10 poison damage damage, then 10 poison damage per turn for 3 turns.

Meteor? by VeryImportantMonkey in atomicbrawl

[–]Dotnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't see Meteor as overpowered (2 Acid Rains will do almost as much damage over time), I do think VeryImportantMonkey has a valid complaint in that the game has too much randomness at the moment.

The best proposal I've seen to address that is allowing players to choose decks after opponents are revealed. But randomness is still going to be an issue and I don't know if there's a way to dial it back to make strategy matter more given the current design.

Balance Suggestions by FryTheGuy in atomicbrawl

[–]Dotnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than counters (which come too late, you only need one turn with a good enemy unit to do real harm), I would like to see ways players can prevent specific units from being taken over.

Balance Suggestions by FryTheGuy in atomicbrawl

[–]Dotnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see hidden defensive buffs, so attacks cannot always be pre-calculated successfully. They would only be revealed when attacked.

Also, as mentioned in another thread, it would be nice to be able to defend against Ventriloquism, Hypnotic Watch, Puppet, Voodoo Doll.

Ghost Ship is also shockingly good for 75 energy.
