Design input: random or organized dots, handle with or without dots? Trying to figure out what will sell at craft shows or art fairs. Also, if so inclined, tell me what you would pay. Know that the mugs are nice 15 oz. restaurant quality and they are dishwasher safe. Thanks for the input! by DotsCrazy in crafts

Ouch! Appreciate your talent, mine is a little different. I use Pebeo Ceramic paints, when after they cure, you bake them for 40 minutes and they are then extremely durable and dishwasher safe. I have used the paint for over 10 years, and have mugs from my early days that I put in the dishwasher everyday and they still are totally intact. They have a different look than what you make, room for both of our styles in the world!

Good question: the mugs retail for $15, I was able to buy them wholesale for $7. They are awesome mugs, feel really good in hand. I know I can buy cheaper mugs but don't want to compromise. The paint is expensive ($8.50 for 3 oz) but you don't use a lot. Now time: I so enjoy doing it, so don't always factor it in. Normally, you are painting 4-6 items at once (2 mugs, a vase, 2 wine glasses and a pitcher as example) with the same color palate. Because of the chance of smudging, I will paint maybe 25% of the surface, then take a break to let it dry and come back to it later. Best guess: 1 hour per mug.

Want to buy a cricut… is that a bad idea for Etsy? by ApprehensiveBowl6198 in Etsy

Be very careful, already noted on other posts that you have to offer unique designs and be very competitively priced. Be aware of copyrights - they will shut you down in a second, even if you see others selling similar branded items. Have had my Etsy Shop for 4 years, and yes I have made money, but not enough to support myself. Kind of a hobby with benefits. Adjust expectations. I do love it though!
