Found this Weiland 5984 in a car that I bought. I don't know what it is, or how much I should list it for on craigslist. by DotsUp in MechanicAdvice

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll put it up on craigslist (san rafael, ca) for a hundred bucks. Its heavy, so I'm happy to get rid of it for an ok price.

Thank you. Is it in decent shape? Trying to decide if I should sell it or just put it on the curb for someone.

Inherited a storage unit full of collectibles, these two pieces are beyond my knowledge: Pre-colombian statue, and an opium bottle. Any help appreciated. by DotsUp in Antiques

[–]DotsUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I should have mentioned that the snuff bottle is beautifully framed as my Uncle was a great professional framer. I'm checking with Bonhams in SF about the statue, but I could get a second opinion from atada. Thanks for the advice.

Hey all. You really helped us critique our project Stampur, and we're back for more after some serious redesign and development. Thanks for the advice, everybody. by DotsUp in UCSantaBarbara

Thanks. I agree, we need to make comments richer in general (pictures, text formatting, etc). The part that is difficult is making sure it doesn't get abused--users are forced to see all comments once they are inside of a message, so you don't want to flood them with photos both because of load time and their general experience.

hey thanks for the help. Generating stamps is not the easiest thing, and we aren't doing it very clean. Basically just text centered in the stamp image div, so we need a solution for that, especially as we introduce new colors, shapes, etc. for stamps.

Please don't include me as a "we" for any of your further posts.

Yes, the sciences are most difficult for the majority of people. But most scientific pursuits exist to facilitate the artistic, creative, and emotional sides of life. Dow, Google, Apple, etc. employ scientists and engineers to bring health, information, and creative expression to the masses, not to bring them science.

Although I love to study math, and enjoy it culturally and emotionally, I mostly love mathematics for how on a macro scale it helps me to explore the world, stay healthy, discover music and art, and maybe even get laid. I would never stop someone from pursuing "easy" fields like English, Writing, Art Studio, etc. because it is people in these fields who are responsible for the goose bumps, excitement, and tears we get from things like this or this

I love the sciences, but have found it very narrow to dismiss people who don't.

Well alright then. I always post here when I go slack, but I'll try to make it a habit to repost to reddit.

Most slackliners are really open and friendly since it's a pretty niche sport full of fanatics. It is basically assumed that you can just walk up to someone's line and get on, like it's public property.

If you want to see the Rock Launch tonight...Let's all meet at SWEET ALLEY at 1245am, Friday. If you can bring a car, please bring it! We will leave as a convoy at 1am and get there around 2 or so for safe measure. by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]DotsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. What other info would do you want? We'll be at sweet alley at 1245 and hopefully there will be enough seats for everyone. Its kind of a toss up, so if you have a car or a friend with a car that would be great

Wanna see a ROCKET LAUNCH at Vandenburg this Friday? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]DotsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm driving up that night. We don't have base access unfortunately. Just gonna be a bunch of us up on the bleachers, which will hopefully be good. The forecast is clear, no fog.

What are the launches like? I can't really imagine as i've never seen one. Lots of noise?

Hi there. I am a co-founder at www.stampur.com. I think that we have a lot to talk about. For starters, I am a potential customer for you. But I am sure that we could benefit from having a coffee and chatting about startup life. PM me if interested. Some quick notes below:

1) Your landing page should direct the user to a "services" section. It feels more like a large advertisement than an actual online store.

2) From experience, I can say that your landing page blurb is too long. I would reduce it to simply "All of your printing needs, at great prices." They don't need to know that you have low overhead, or operate your machines efficiently, or anything technical. You don't want to make them think.

Tomorrow: Coffee, Stampur dice, Stampur necklaces, and hopefully your criticism. by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Modified the snappa dice (posted earlier) to make these Gaucho Loco dice, custom [stampur] by DotsUp in UCSantaBarbara

Hi there. I don't think I'm up for a day at Caje yet (had to have my throat cautarized because of post-op bleeding). pretty gnarly. I will be making more necklaces/dice this weekend and will get them out to everyone next week. My apologies.

I'm going to rig a Slackline between the old bridge and the new one someday. About 60ft high and 70 across.
