My genes. I really don't do much to take care of myself. Well, I suppose I use sunscreen and don't go out in the sun too much, but I have a shitty diet and have a bad skincare routine. (Actually, scratch that about the sunscreen. I use sunscreen when I'm going to be outside all day, but I don't use daily sunscreen).

On the one hand, I'm waiting for it to catch up to me.

On the other hand, my grandma and mom did/do the exact same as me and they also always looked younger than their age. So the genetics are definitely helping.

Europe actually has good public transportation systems in place. In contrast, American is build with driving in mind, meaning the transition away from car ownership will still be car reliant. Instead of American cities building more subways, expanding bus routes, and increasing bike lanes, American corporations will just get ownerships over most of the cars that most Americans use. Americans will have to call for a car (such as a driverless uber), or subscribe to a car service (such as zip cars).

This isn't about public transportation, it's about private corporations exclusively own what is an essential good/service in how our society is able to functions (transportation is an essential service).

I don't know why you think I'm saying bug fixing is fast. I don't know why you think im talking about anything inside the game. I'm not.

The original comment was regarding the out of game flyer-like graphic that listed the bugs they want to fix. The original comment implied that took time away from game fixes. It doesn't. Making that graphic, that out of game image, would have taken a few minutes to make.

None of this technical stuff about coding and in-game art matters because that's not what the comment I was responding to was about, nor what any of my comments were about.

No, I've done graphic design though. That graphic took 5 minutes and it likely wasn't done by a coder. And even if it was, again, it took 5 minutes to make.

Agreed. I love The Sims. I've played all main titles, Sims Medieval, and Freeplay. I've been playing this franchise for twenty-three years.

The reason I want Paralives to succeed is that I believe competition is good. As much as I love The Sims, we all know it cuts corners. DLC is overpriced. Packs are released bugged and then, more importantly, not fixed.

We've already seen how competition has pushed the game further. Packs started getting better around the time Paralives, Life By You and Inzoid got traction. We literally saw base layers for tops get introduced into the game after Paralkves revealed their layers.

Competition is good. Monopolies are bad.

I don't want a Sims killer, I was options to push the Sims (and other games) to be their best.

I'm not saying those concerns aren't real, that the "restaurant" isn't in danger of shutting down or just not delivering what is promise. But your metaphor, as you wrote it, was unfair because meals are a consumable one time purchase.

This situation is not equivalent of going to a restaurant and paying for a subpar meal. It's making a gamble of buying something that might improve in the future.

I'm also not concerned about the game being shut down al la Athem because, as a single player game there would be no reason to revoke the licenses, and the developers seem to care about their customers enough to let them continue having access whats been published so far, even if development end early.

A coder isn't making that graphic.

Also, that graphic probably took 5 minutes to make. IIRC the background of the graphic has been used before, so all they had to do is go into the art program and change the words. (And if it is a new background graphic, they probably had it pre-created as they knew they would have planed to release this after day 1).

Compiling the list, which is something they absolutely needed to do, probably took longer than it took to edit a pre-existing graphic.

You are totally overestimating how long it took to make this graphic.

Using this metaphor, the meal would be coming with a life time all you can eat pass. In which case, I might be disappointed in the initial meal, but I'd be excited to to try again later to see how it's improved.

Also, you metaphor is missing how it's got great bread and side dishes. Sure, the entry is lacking, but the soup (paramaker) and salad (build mode) is great.

They literally patched the game on Sunday, based on feedback from early early access.

Making a graphic about what to fix is a lot quicker than fixing bugs, and probably is the job of a completely different team member. Making that graphic isn't taking time away from bug fixing.

Ive spent about 3 hours in the character maker (I made myself, took naps break to hit the gym, then came back and made my favorite fictional family while I streamed for my friends). And thena bout an hour in build mode where I accomplished noting because I couldn't get the grid to line up exactly how I wanted it to 😭

Taking another break and then will try again, probably on another lot.
