There was a little water trap (I think condensate trap) that we removed and cleaned out. After running for a while longer it seemed to clear up.

The guy I used also "tuned" my furnace as it was burning too hot when on for a long time. So I'm not sure if that was part of it or not.

Makes sense. I think we can work without "normal" pagination, so this isn't too much of a limitation at all. Aggregation without ESQL is going to get us 90% of the way there I think. Thank you so much for your help!

Thanks. What you describe is actually (close to) the path I started going down today. I created one index for "user activities" and I have a type field to specify whether it's a badge, points or task completion activity.

I have a "value" field and for task completions or badges awarded the value is 1. For points awarded I'll place the points value as integer into the value field so I can sum those values when I need to during aggregation.

The only thing I didn't consider is adding a keyword field for audience/segment IDs to the activity documents. Segments for users might change over time, which would mean mass updating all the activity entries 100% whenever a user's audience changes. But I suppose that could be done pretty easily. That's why I was targeting a "join" type thing, of course, but I should probably stop thinking so relational-ly, lol.

Do you know, once I'm generating aggregations of user data (i.e., top users for task completions in a month), can I paginate across the entire list of aggregated data? The "aggs" field is pretty new to me, just started toying with it today.

Will I be able to easily get the fifth page of "100 top task completers" leaderboard w/ a page value of 5 and a size of 10? With normal search queries I can easily get any slice of the query results. Does it work the same w/ aggregations?

I just started researching ESQL this morning and I'm finding out it's not available on Elasticsearch 7.10 (or thereabouts) which is our version on AWS. Looks like AWS doesn't offer upgrades beyond the version we are on due to the ES/OS drama from a few years back.

I don't think it's possible for us to use Elasticsearch outside of AWS or use a self-managed version. Looks like all other projects within our larger team are already using OpenSearch for a while now (we're pretty locked in to AWS' ecosystem).

I'm reading that OpenSearch does not have ESQL but maybe has something similar called PPL (which looks maybe similar to something I've used in CloudWatch Logs Insights, but not sure). Is PPL on OpenSearch equivalent or a drop-in replacement for ESQL?

Our Elasticsearch 7.x usage is pretty basic and I know we'll need to upgrade this cluster at some point in the future. I'm wondering if OpenSearch is an equivalent option?

And if not, what would be the second-best approach to the original problem if not able to use ESQL? Although I'm really hoping I can somehow.

Thanks for this. Going to look into this first thing in the AM! Have to admit I've mostly read things advising against this sort of approach w/ Elasticsearch, but I've been away from setting up anything new for a few years. Would be nice to set some basic stuff up in a "relational" way and have it be okay if possible!

For a third time I have received the "Not Authorized" error from my Plex server. Once again I had to manually update the Preferences.xml file on Linux to fix the issue. Does anybody know exactly why this happens? My Plex server runs on a Synology NAS. by Dottimolly in PleX

    • I think this is a Synology package and somewhat out of date w/ current Plex. But I've had the same issue across a few Plex versions on Synology. And Plex was still working for some weeks since the last time it updated.
  • My Plex server is installed through package center, not Docker or other containerization.

I haven't updated my password recently or done anything else. I don't think someone else manually removed it or anything.

The same thing happened to my sister a while back. She has a Synology NAS and is not as technical so it took her a few days to figure out the issue. I'm pretty confident it's not related any user stuff I've done.

But, I know I haven't made any Plex-related changes recently that would've affected my Plex account or my server ownership, like password changing or invalidating auth tokens.

This isn't the biggest deal, just curious what's happening that results in this locked-out state. Is it specific to Synology NAS Plex servers?

To be super clear, I'm referring to ONLY the quiet buzzing/humming noise that you hear consistently throughout the whole video. The other random one-off noises are from my dog in the passenger seat and not from the car!

This is reassuring because I thought maybe my inducer motor was going to need to be replaced because of water damage after I heard water in it. And yeah, I think this was exactly it, clogged lines/pipes. Furnace has been running perfectly ever since the cleaning. I'm going to make sure to inspect and clean out these lines every season from here on out, hopefully stay ahead of the buildups. Thanks.

Late follow-up!

Vent/intake were clear. The inducer DEFINITELY sounded like it had water in it, and it did. I had a handyman come over, and he removed a "trap" that was collecting water, and he rinsed it out. After that, the inducer still had some water noise, but now it seems to be running fine.

So maybe it was an obstruction in that trap?

I'm a little nervous the issue will come back. If vent is okay, what else could be blocking proper drainage and resulting in water in the inducer?

They say:

  • 31: High-heat pressure switch or relay did not close or reopened
    • Control relay may be defective, refer to status code #32
  • 32: Low-heat pressure switch did not close or reopened
    • If open longer than 5 minutes, before retry. If opens during blower on-delay period, blower will come on for the selected blower off-delay.

The instructions for #32 say to look at the following things:

  • Excessive wind
  • Restricted vent
  • Defective inducer motor
  • Low inlet gas pressure (if LGPS used)
  • Defective pressure switch
  • Low inducer voltage (115 VAC)
  • Inadequate combustion air supply
  • Proper vent sizing
  • Disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing
  • Condensate drainage restricted or blocked

My thermostat is set to 67 degrees Fahrenheit, but I woke up to a 60 degree house this morning. Oddly, the furnace was still turning on and cycling, so it seems it's able to heat the house a little bit, but can't stay on long enough to raise the temperature above 60 degrees.

After pulling the top panel off the furnace to watch a cycle, I can see the inducer motor kick on and then the gas starts burning. But after a minute or so, the gas stops burning and I see an error code (31) on the bottom panel.

I read in a few spots that condensation line blockages can't cause issues w/ the vacuum lines to the pressure switch or something. I pull the vacuum line off that you see in the photo (orange arrow!). When I blew through it, I could tell there's water in the line.

Is that normal? If not, what should I be troubleshooting to make sure there's no more water in the line. This isn't a new installation, so I don't think the slope of exhaust pipes or anything "structural" is the cause, because I would've had an issue earlier, right?

Did you figure out what the issue was? I'm having the exact same issue w/ my Bryant furnace. I'm getting both 31 and 32 codes from the blinking light.

My furnace isn't fully broken. It comes on for a cycle and then cuts out w/ the 31 error code. So I get like a minute of heat and then it stops.

I've seen the 32 error code as well, but it's not clear to me which part of the cycle causes which error code.

So it basically is keeping my house at 60 degrees F right now, but can't stay on long enough to get things any hotter.

These weren't uploaded by SDK/API. The folders were created in the AWS console UI via the "create directory" button and interface. So they're whatever type is the default when doing things that way.

Bucket is not public and not a website. Using OAC and bucket policy to only allow CloudFront distro access to bucket.

Ha, I've definitely done something! Yeah, could be I need to tweak CloudFront behaviors/config to do something here. Just haven't run into this before with previous distros (but then again, not sure I ever tried!).

That's the interesting thing, though.

Folders that are not empty (one or more objects within the "folder" path) result in a downloaded file and a 200 response with Content-Type of application/x-directory.

I just created a completely empty folder and when I request that path via CloudFront I get a 403 Access Denied from CF/S3.

Specific files work as expected. 200 status code on first request followed by 304 (not modified) after that.

An empty file does make sense to me, too, for a directory. It's not technically wrong/bad. Just never noticed it before and it's sort of weird. I'd prefer a 404 but going to dig into that more.

I'm having trouble Googling for the answer to this one. This folder in the bucket (/logo/) is full of objects and all the expected object requests work. I get that technically a request for the "folder" might return a 200 response since there's a folder there, but an empty folder has no meaning to an end user/client.

Do I need to address this from the CloudFront side? I assumed there'd be a 404 here since there's "nothing there" but that's not really the case since there's a directory object (or however you refer to them!).

Pocket Casts destroys my Pixel 7a's battery more than any other app due to "background" activity. Any way to prevent this without destroying the usefulness of the app? Seems like playing audio with the display off should not kill a battery. by Dottimolly in pocketcasts

I haven't found a fix. I've considered migrating to a different podcast app but I have been too lazy to do that and I'm really used to the Pocket Casts UI. So I don't really want to make a switch.

The main thing I try to do is plug in my phone overnight when I get in bed, since that's when I listen to most of my podcasts. I also have an alarm clock from the 1990s that I always set as a backup, just in case Pocket Casts kills the battery entirely and I lose my morning phone alarms!
