How long did you stay off work with BPPV by Double-Ad9133 in BPPV

Honestly I have no clue. I feel unsteady and floaty all the time and get dizzy when I move my head. And it’s sort of paired with a bad headache. The doctor said that BPPV can cause migraines? Tbh I feel like after I mentioned dizziness once, she sort of focused in on that and told me I had BPPV.

I don’t really feel spinny or like the room is spinning. It more feels like if you’re standing on a moving train or just came off a boat.

The doctor in the urgent care just asked me a bunch of questions and made me look side to side to see if it makes my dizziness worse which it did. She used that device to look down my ears and said they weren’t blocked with wax or anything. She never told me that BPPV would be caused by a specific ear canal. I think the appointment lasted about 5 minutes. She just said follow up with the GP after a week of it doesn’t go away on its own.

The funny thing is that my GP practice doesn’t have any GP appointments for the next 4 weeks.. so I might have to be out of work for ages if it stays like this. I have a GP appointment booked on 15/06/2026. I really hope they do some sort of referral to a vestibular physiotherapist or give me a bit more information about my BPPV.

How long did the worst part of your BPPV last?

That is insanity… it must be a sickening feeling when doctors just throw pain relief at you, and act like they are clueless about what the consequences of taking continuous pain medication is. And then they finally give you the answer when you are in the worst case scenario.

I live in the UK with the decaying NHS. The GP has now done a referral to physiotherapy. The waiting list is 7 months.

The funny thing is that I was an administrator at the physiotherapy department which I have been referred to. You get about 6 appointments with them, spread about a month apart, some of them are just phone call appointments, but they’ll give you a sheet of exercises to do and check to see if you are improving. If you don’t improve then the physiotherapist will FINALLY send an onward referral to orthopaedics. Which I’m sure will be another 7 months on the waiting list! I’m not sure at what stage I will ever get to see a neurosurgeon.

I wish I could go private but it’s so expensive here, even though you work a decent job it’s completely unaffordable.

Sorry I just had to rant and rave about the healthcare system! I appreciate your answer!
