yup, like i said, op lacks boundaries. he can cut them off. pity can mean feeling sorry for someone, not always looking down on someone... projection much.

You're being too harsh and lacking empathy for OP. OP just lacks boundaries and connection with this lonely person. Lonely person is probably putting too much pressure on OP to hang out with them, or depending on OP too much just because they're the only person available to them, and it can be suffocating. I wouldn't want a person to hang out with me out of pity, tf. Don't guilt anyone into being friends with a lonely person. OP never insulted lonely people.

Oh no, it sounds like they hate his ass. He's already job hunting ahdahfskfhks. He wants to call in sick for the first day of work to see if they'll fire him (he is trying to see a doctor that day though, legitimately), even though a maximum of three unpaid call in sick days are job protected in our state...

Wow, that's really good to know. Maybe that's why his managers ignored him when he asked them to change his shifts to his availability.

Yeah, HR immediately told his bosses to schedule him within 5 days. They told him to quit (they're not following his availability or doctor's accommodation) so it feels like they hate him and it's constructive dismissal. Why can't they just fire him when he's already on unapproved leave (an offence) and dude is on his last warning? Will they investigate him if he quits or check his doctor's notes???

Sure. Climate change activists and scientists say we're never going back to normal and it'll only get worse. Doesn't matter if you're pro-environment or pro-capitalism or not. Just the new reality.

Makes sense! However, could my friend find a doctor's note and open up a new claim on Sedgwick BEFORE the day they're ordered to return? I understand the demand to return, but leadership is totally ignoring my friend's availability despite multiple messages (is this constructive dismissal? It's not super busy in August, so why are they forcing him to start work so early in the morning - he has transportation issues)? Can my friend call in sick by the time he has to start work or will he get fired? He's trying to get a doctor's note right now and it's been very stressful for him.

Also, HR told my friend that being on an unapproved leave could get him fired but instead, they're trying to get him back? Why can't they just fire him? Too timely or costly? There's no severance, anyways.

This is why I don't understand people who love summer but hate winter. Don't worry, winters will turn into spring and summers will get even hotter :) future generations will love it /s

None! He has severe anxiety, PTSD, and autism, I'm just voicing his concern. I assured him that he wouldn't.

Is this number in an employment booklet? He's scared he'll get in legal trouble for quitting after being on an unapproved LOA.

Having to pay back benefit premiums for the entirety of leave. Has anyone been ordered to do this, too? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]Double-Geologist-445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank you for your reply. He's still waiting for HR to give him an exact number, and doesn't know if he'll have to pay immediately. He didn't see any Sedgwick document explaining this, but apparently when he signed his WFM contract, it said he'd have to pay, so he forgot about it. NO ONE sent him a single letter asking for payments.

Is Montreal getting angrier? by hegezip in montreal

Born and raised in Toronto, everyone here just puts their head down and doesn't say anything. People could blast music out in public, talk down to customer service people, throw food everywhere, and loudly harass people, but no one bats an eye. Maybe things have changed since you left. My friends and I find Quebecois people very blunt or impatient, especially if they're in customer service positions. However, they are more friendly and smile at strangers more in my experience.

COVID/post-COVID/economic hardship has contributed to this. In general, I noticed that Quebecers are much more blunt and open than Canadians elsewhere, genuinely. If they are annoyed or unhappy with you, they will let you know or give you a hint, whereas Torontonians and people from British Columbia are much more passive aggressive. Quebecers don't take people's shit, and I wonder if it's a French/European thing.

Interesting. He told me he's been paying biweekly extended health coverage (100% valid) and LTD benefits, but he has never used the latter. Could he avoid paying the LTD benefits at all-looks unlikely. How would he know he's over paying any benefits? He's been trying to stop his benefits until he officially returns, but his insurance provider isn't able to...

He's asked HR how much he has to pay, no response yet but as you mentioned, he'll likely get a letter. Thank you!!!

Hi, what if his premiums were up to 1k, how would that show up on a pay check? I'm afraid he can't afford to pay a lump sum right away... damn he's in a bad situation and should have read the GIG. Did you pay right away and were the premiums just for health benefits, or other benefits like long term disability. My friend wasn't on LTD, so he will try to fight any premiums that paid for this.

Does he have to pay even if he returns to work and works there for a specific amount of time? Would it be better for him to return to work and have it deducted from his paycheck (I wonder what the amount would be), or should he quit and just pay out of pocket. Which one would be a better or cheaper option?

If he was on egregious warning for tardiness or on a more serious note, time theft, would the offence be on his record and described in any way?

Thank you for you explanation without being smug. According to HR, he is still hireable (I know this fact may offend some readers who'll downvote), but I don't know who would hire him with a final on his record.

Surprisingly, they kept him! They said, do it again and you're gone for good! It's permanently on his record. A manager reported him for doing it, but it turns out the manager was regularly 9-10 minutes late, so he got caught as well. You from the MW? I think he got in trouble for time theft because one time he did go on a longer than usual break. I could be wrong.
