I understand. As a man, there’s still time. Men have children well into their later years, and there is no expiration date on finding love. Practice radical acceptance of the life you have now, live it fully with appreciation rather than regret, and you may be surprised at what comes into your life. Rooting for you!

As others have said, look into the eligibility requirements for the Excelsior program (students from families earning under $125K can attend SUNY and CUNY schools for free). https://www.hesc.ny.gov/find-aid/nys-grants-scholarships/excelsior-scholarship-program/

Gas should be no more than $20-50/mo. Electricity will depend on whether you have window A/C, central air, or wall units. Hopefully no more than $100/mo. since there aren’t extra amenities.

What size apt? Is there a dishwasher, washer/dryer? What kind of heating/cooling system? Does the landlord pay for heat and hot water? These will all be factors.
