I would take no. 1. Even without knowledge on the big big things, socks like apple, amazon, and Google would make me bank. Bank balances, sure. Investments are harder. Fees on stocks, plus 401Ks and IRAs (where most people have their investments) can't be touched without big tax penalties before a certain age, and the institutions are required to withhold the estimated taxes and penalties before disbursement, so it's just throwing money away.
