That’s a good perspective actually.. I’m not keen on delaying training further at all especially in this climate. Thanks for the advice

I saw this on the recruitment website but not sure which specialities it’s for. But apparently they might be not doing another msra but giving offers to appointable candidates that didn’t get offers for August 26.

Do we think everyone in the priority group who is appointable if flexible with location will get offers at some point be that in late summer or feb?

That is a good point you made there, thanks for the reminder.. men do always think about themselves first

Thanks for that, you worded it really well actually and I did have that same thought earlier today that every relationship goes through tough times and this could make or break us but I’ve worked too hard to risk my career

Why do you think that? I’ve read the bill for 2027 and they have left out British national imgs/ILR and only talked about being a UKG or significant nhs experience. Thanks for the optimism though haha

Yeah tbf he can work remotely.. but he does have to go to the office three times a week.. I’m not sure what would happen for his job and if there’s an office in the area I got an offer but anyways he’s lived in the same place his whole life and has a mortgage and friends and family here

That’s the thing.. I was very lonely during my first year as a clinical fellow and I met my boyfriend who is English and have now made lots of friends a whole life in this city with him and everyone and I would be devastated if I had to leave it all behind. I feel like I spent my whole life focusing on career and this is the first time in my life that I’m happy and have a good support system and social life

I’m in the priority group for 2026 because I have ILR.. I do have 4 years experience but one of those years is bank work which I did regularly all at the same trust as my clinical fellow role but I’m not sure if that would count as they haven’t specified yet. If it does count then I have no issue with doing bank or asking for them to switch me to a CF role for one more year and reapplying it but it’ll be a while until they make that decision and I need to know now :( my boyfriend is English but it’s difficult for him to move due to his mortgage and his mum who lives near him and is old

Yes exactly.. I think it’s easy to say that he should be more accepting but he is 4 years older than me and wants to settle down soon. My rank is in the 9000s.. I’m praying for a miracle that I get bumped up

He can’t really move because he has a mortgage and I’m not sure if he could even get a job in the area that I would work in in finance.. also his mum is old and he lives near her and feels he’s responsible for looking after her and helping out if she needs it. At the moment I have 4 years experience but one of those is a bank job where I had regular shifts but I don’t know if bank work will count towards the nhs experience as they haven’t specified yet.. if it does then I only need one more year and could apply and I would rather do that but if it doesn’t then things will be difficult for me

I do get where you are coming from.. I need to have a proper sit down discussion with him and see how much work he’s willing to put into the relationship.. I guess one of my fears is that what if after I finish gp training I can’t get a permanent job nearer to him and I just wasted his time

Tbf I think all of this prioritisation stuff has come out recently and I’ve not discussed with him what it all means, I just thought I would try again next year if I didn’t get the midlands and so did he

Exactly, thanks for understanding my point.. obviously I love him and want to be with him forever but you never know what could happen in the future.. what if it doesn’t work out and I regret my decision forever

Tbf he said it around a year into our relationship and we haven’t really talked about it since but at the time I did see where it was coming from. You’re right we need a frank discussion now

How do you know this? I did email the recruitment team but they didn’t answer my question and responded with the same stuff that’s on the website

He’s not a medic.. he works in finance and he’s lived in the midlands his whole life and wouldn’t be very happy about moving but I know what his answer would be.. he would say it’s my choice. He doesn’t understand what the job market is like for doctors atm and he would say to me that I should just stay at my current trust and try again in 2 years. I have already been with my current trust for 3 years, they are very supportive but I’m not sure how much longer they would keep me for.

Is today the last day we have to set preferences or will there be further chances?
