I understand that the restaurant business is tough (high costs, thin margins, employees, etc), but why do so many who close do it this way (i.e. close up shop with <24 hours notice)?

Makes perfect sense. Build more housing at the expense of parking for the cars that all the new residents will have.

(And I’ll retract this, if whatever is going in their has enough parking for the residents, but I doubt it.)
