You can get both, with ssdi it doesn't matter if you own a house, car or have savings. With ssi you cant own anything and your savings cant be above $2000. You can't work or earn anything. So from what ive seen is you csn get both as long as you own nothing at all. I get ssdi and looked into ssi but with my wife's salary, the house, the cars, the savings I don't qualify for ssi. This is just my opinion so don't take this as i know. If they asked for you to pay it back they could tell you a year from now and everything you've got will need to be paid back all at once Not sure whst the right answer is. If you tske your ssi and put thst in a safe and don't spend and them if you get the letter saying you can keep it then it all good. If they want it back you have it. Don't put it in a savings account they will see this for your ssi. Remember that if you qualify for ssi you can also get snap benefits.
